Who are the best five Lakers?

OK, first of all, relax. I dont intend to do this for every team. I think many would agree though that the Lakers and the Celtics both have a rich history that makes for interesting discussion regarding the top 5 players of all times for respective teams.

Interestingly enough, I think there are more individual players to pick from with the Lakers. You got Mikan, Kareem, and Wilt (if you want to include him since much of his time was with the Warriors), and you also got Elgin Baylor who's game was similar to Kobe Bryant. So then, who would you say are the top 5 Lakers of all time.

This is tough. Unlike the Celtics, I dont even know who is #1 and #2.

    No particular order:

    Magic
    Kareem
    West
    Kobe
    O'Neal

    Unstoppable starting five.

The Lakers easily have the best lineup of any team in the league.

You have 3 of the 4 best centers of all time, the second and third best 2 guards of all time, the best PG of all time, one of the top SFs of all time, and then whatever you want to do with Mikan, and that's ignoring the fact that Gary and Karl played their year with them.

You can't go wrong with any list really.

Were you at any point alluding to Jerry West in that? It didnt seem that way. But you also have him too. Mikan was a center. So really, you might have 4 of the top 10 centers of all time.

I think he was the "third best two guard of all time" that Soldier referred to.

Yeah, but they had West playing the 2.

Are we taking Kareem's whole career into this discussion or just his time with the Lakers? If its just his time with the Lakers, I would have a tough time putting him in the top 5.

Really? That's the second time this week someone has disrespected Kareem. First someone says Bird is better than Kareem(?????) and now he's not one of the five best Lakers, based on the MVPs, titles, All Stars and All defensive teams he's been on? Wow.

You have really misconstrued my words here. I am in no way disrespecting Kareem, as I think he is one of the top 5 basketball players ever. I just think he really made his mark in Milwaukee and not in LA. But if your counting his career as a whole there is no doubt he would be one of the top 5 Lakers.

I'm not confusing anything. I'm just talking about what he won with the Lakers. Multiple MVPs, first team all defense, second team all defense, titles, scoring titles, leading the league in several categories at times, being top five in several categories. The man's record as a Laker is ridiculous.
