Re: *PUKE* The NY Knicks agree to terms with *PUKE*...

I don't think anyone here is saying that Duhon is the freaking man. No one is being that silly.

But, what we are saying is that he's taking too much heat compared to the free agent market. Look at what the Knicks have at point guard. I'm a Knicks fan and I've been saying for the longest that Nate Robinson is not a true point guard. He is Stephon Marbury's mini-me. Really.

Mardy Collins? I mean, really. Are we trying to compare Mardy Collins to Duhon?

Hey, I know Duhon isn't a savior. I know he's not a great shooter. But I think he can handle the 1 at New York. There are going to be players on the court that will take the shots. Duhon just needs to run and pass and with D'Antoni he'll do that.

As for the comments about the cap. This move doesn't hurt their cap at all. The Knicks will be over the cap for the next two years anyway so adding Duhon at two years was by design.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

      You're kidding me right?

Duhon is a scrub. All these 'oh it's not a bad deal' talkers on here would be in convulsions right now if their favorite team just signed Chris Freaking Duhon for their MLE.

Duhon is not a better point than Nate and he is NOT a leader. Don't know how you can be a leader at the end of the bench and no one from the players to the coaches to the towel boys respect you.

And Nate plays PG. The only time he switches to SG is when he was on the floor the same time as Marbury or they went with a 3-guard lineup.

It was a rushed signing and it was a waste of the MLE.

These clowns said the same exact thing when Jared Jeffries came off the Wizards/Cavs playoff series and held LeBron 'in check' "Oh, he's just what we need, he's a great defender, he'll fit right in, yadda, yadda, yadda".

The day that Chris Duhon is the starting PG of the NY Knicks, Marbury, Robinson and Collins all better had been shot in a triple homicide because I will not be a happy camper.

Young Eric Snow...you could do worse.

The fact that this is such a pitiful FA class makes his deal look bigger than it is. Most of the MLE guys are pretty mediocre, IMO. The best deals this off season will be for ring-chasing vets that come cheap.

Young Eric Snow?!?!?! Nooooo nooo noooo. I respect your posts, but noooooo.

Eric Snow had a rep as a defensive specialist when he was in Seattle during the Sonics' Finals run. And Snow is taller by 3 inches. Even I knew about Snow's defense in Seattle. Nothing like that stands out for Duhon.

I have no problem with Duhon if this was for a better team. But it's the Knicks. They need to clean house first. Anyone that expects him to make Curry and Randolph to even care during a game because The Duhon is in there is delusional. Curry and Randolph shouldn't be Knick Knacks anymore.

The Knicks shouldn't have wasted their time and more money on this signing. They should concentrate on clearing cap space.

P.S. The Duhon and Magic Johnson should never again be mentioned in the same breath ever again. I understoood the message, but still lol.

Ok, your really getting more ridiculous every time you post. Do you think your stupid smiley face is making everybody feel bad about their posts? Im not even going to glance at this idiotic topic again because your arguments are completely bias and totally unreasonable. So instead of trying to post an educated defense to your out of line statements, I will just let you meditate on how bright your Knicks' future looks with the likes of an under-sized, shoot-first point guard and a coach that believes in an offensive philosophy which has been proven time and time again to be inferior to a half-cout, defensive team. Laugh at that while your picking in the lottery for the next couple seasons.

Did he attack you personally? Bigeast is just telling how he feels about this since he is a big Knicks fan. And it's not like he is talking junk. He even brought up the Jeffries situation. Relax.

Duhon hasn't been able to stay on the court long enough to build a rep, this is true...but he snuck into the league on defensive rep, P. He was a strong defender at Duke, and he's been in or near top 10 in assist to turnover ratio since he's been in the L, which is kinda where the main comparison came from. Can't shoot a lick, good-if-not-great-defender, very good asst/TO ratio...smaller E. Snow. A poor mans E. snow if you will...which is actually pretty lousy, lol. Sorry Big East.

We'll be in the lottery with or without Duhon.

Glad you focused on smileys and missed every single point that I made.

And what you just said about D'Antoni just goes against your whole argument.

This has nothing to do with the cap, the goal is to get under the cap in 2 years when this contract is expired. This doesnt hurt that.

I knew about Duhon in college, so I agree with you there. He played great D for Coach K. And I agree that in the league, he's a good defensive player. Duhon's played enough that I knew that about him. It's just that Snow showed excellent defense in Seattle and the falloff from Payton to Snow wasn't far and his rep took a jump in the Finals. Your comparison just...well, I guess it startled me for a sec lmao. I think that's why my post came off like that. My apologies.

Duhon is fine for what we need him for, a stop-gap PG for two years that will be gone in the summer of '10 when we need the cap space.

It's not like we're signing him for a long-term deal or banking on him being a vital piece of the team around LeBron, D-Wade, or whatever big name free agent we pursue in two years.

I hate to say it as a fan but I'd rather have us suck the next two years and get two more lottery picks before the '10 FA class hits the open market.
