The core of Billups, RIP, Tay, Wallace is about as lethal chemistry/talent wise as any other foursome in the league. I figured with a new leader to coach, they could start fresh.

Now you bring in a guy who is simply not a point guard. Worse, I don't really like Stuckey all that much, which he seems like the motivation behind this trade.

Who knows how this will work out but Detroit wasn't winning another title with that group so they might as well shake it up.

Shake it up yeah, but this can't be the best idea of a shake up

I just can't agree with discounting their title shot after 2 games.

Only positive like I said for DET is that they're going to have redick cap room next year.

              Uh yea he is...

I mean the guy has averaged in the top 10 the last two seasons, and is right there again this yr.

              06-07 - 7.2 dimes
              07-08 - 7.1
08-09 - 6.7 (Melo was out 2 gms, and ineffective when he came back)

Besides...I would say Iverson is the 2nd best scorer (Lebron 1st) during the last couple years of players who ranked in the top 10 in assists.

If I'm his coach I want him filling it up too, and not always looking to pass first like the prototypical PG would.

              Regarding the trade...

I don't know what to make of it. I thought Detroit had the best chemistry yr to yr bringing back their core of players: Wallace, Rip, Chauncey, Prince, McDyess...

Only time will tell how this one affects the teams involved and league.

Who ranks Detroit/Denver higher or lower now?

Guys stop giving me AI's assist numbers. Look at him play every night, he's not a point guard.

Why you think they fing have Anthony fing Carter starting? Granted AC's had a decent start.. AC should be no more than a backup at the very best.

i rank them higher. this team is gritty and built like a much better version of the 01 sixers. it's the best team AI has been a part of, and that will show come playoff time. that's my bold prediction since everyone likes to play it so safe.

Ppl will never get it. Iverson has never been a PG. The disrespect for the guy sickens me. Some think it is still 98 or something.

what larry brown said about AI still remains true. you have to surround him with gritty, defensive minded players. detroit has a whole team of them, and better offensive players than anyone other than Melo that AI has played with.

                            Yep.

The Pistons have lacked a "star" who can take over games since passing on Melo, Wade, and Bosh in the draft. Now they have one.

Ex, they were not getting past Boston this season, and if they did, they were not going to beat whoever comes out of the west. I think they have a better shot now, and if it doesn't work out, all that money comes off the books and they re-up in free agency.

I think this is great for Detroit. I think it's going to be interesting to see how Billups hangs with the West's elite points every night (Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, Tony Parker, Barron Davis, etc.). Welcome to the wild west Big Shot.

Even if you don't think Iverson is as good as he was in 01 (really??) this Pistons team has a similar style of play, but is MUCH better than that Sixers team.

I'm saying this is a different NBA than 01. I'm saying that I don't care that this is the best squad AI's been a part of. He won't propel this team further than Billups could IMO.
