I dont like this trade but I dont hate it either. Billups has I believe 3 years left on his deal and wasnt worth the contract he got so Im glad we finally rid ourselves of it but I dont think Iverson is a good fit for the Pistons either. Im not sure what to think, Ive always viewed Iverson as a black hole on offense who shoots way too much and struggles to play in a structured offense due to his always wanting to freelance on the court. Anyone know what Iversons contract looks like? I really hope this doesnt blow up in our face, Denver was trying to get a PG all summer and had been trying to trade for Jamaal Tinsley so I guess that finally fell through and they went in a different direction. Hope Iverson can play under some control but I have to see it to believe it.

I've watched him his entire career and his game is to be a ball hog. No ifs, ands and buts about it. He is who he is.

          He chucked here in Philly.

          He chucked in Denver.

He will chuck it up in Detroit.

So you're a bandwagon fan? So how would you know what true Philly fans do? Glad we got that out of the way.

Iverson is a ball hog. He can't play in a set offense. It's AI dribbling around. Difference between AI and Money/Kobe is the latter could both play in set offenses.

A guy who likes the dolphins is a bandwagon fan riiiiight, I love my city but that's the definition of a Philly fan...season ticket holder the year AI left and still went to most of the games, diehard flyers fan, hate the eagles tho mainly cuz of the bandwagon fans...wasn't really a phillies fan but even in the "vet" days I attended alot of games...far from bandwagon they are the worst fans....like u said AI is not a pg and management should have been brougth in a true pg so wouldn't have to control the off

Re: Iverson to Pistons for Billups/McDyess

Im seeing guys predicate saying the Pistons will do well because

AI has guys around him who will play defense

Not that he will play defense

Because Rip can play off the ball

Not that AI will play off the ball

and that players in Philly sucked harder than the guys in DET

I dont buy it, adn thats the reasoning for me bringing up the fact that he's not a passing PG.

Its not about how good AI is, its how well he'll play with this team. They thrive on team ball, passing, coming off screens, picks for spot ups... and you're going to throw some silly assist numbers up and say "its done" as if its automatic.

This same discussion came up when AI was going to Denver and people wouldnt listen to P2K about AI not changing his game because that's not his ways... well im saying, AI is not most effective pressuring the defense passing the ball around, but now he will do it because he has a super Philly like team around him again.. as if its all about him now.

The jury is out and make no mistake he's going to have to change some of his game up to succeed in DET. Is he capable, im sure of it, the guy is an ISTP, but will he, dunno.

I don't think that's what it means at all. He's a career 42% shooter. I don't think that translates to best or most consistent. He's a great scorer, but lots of his numbers come from sheer volume, and I don't think he's in the same league as guys like Wilt, MJ, and Kareem (who would also be ahead of him in average if he didn't play til he was 54 years old). I don't think his career scoring average automatically puts him ahead of guys like Oscar, Nique, or even Kobe.

He also gets to the line a ton -- just looking at FG% doesn't give you the whole picture. Anyway, agree to disagree on that. And comparing him to big men like Wilt and Kareem is kinda ridiculous in the first place...

I realize FG% doesn't give the whole picture, but it definitely gives part of it. And comparing him to big men is what you did when you called him the greatest scorer ever not named Wilt.

The fact that he's in the same sentence as Wilt when it comes to scoring speaks volumes about the kind of player he is and how amazing his career achievements are. But if you want to get down to it, he's the best scorer ever under 6'5" and one of the best all-time, including big men who had it much easier due to their size or played in wildly different eras when scoring and rebounding was almost twice what it is today.

And I meant to include MJ in that sentence.

He didnt chuck in Denver nowhere as near as he did in philly (due to other options ie anthony smith kleiza ect) He is definantly a score first gaurd but in the right situation (Detroit) he can take 15 to 17 shots instead of 25 to 30 and plaY some d
