-Many teams don't have a full lineup
-Many acquisitions have yet to acclimate to their new teams
-Most teams haven't played the best teams in the league yet
-Many teams have played against depleted teams
-Coaching changes haven't had a chance to take effect
-The two best teams are so dominant that star players are sitting out fourth and large amounts of time while coaches develop their benches for the playoffs.
    -small sample size--states are skewed

You can't determine the "overall best player" under these circumstances.

      shut the hell up...

And if you think the thread is stupid, leave...or y'all got too much free time and have absolutely no life and y'all are here to prove it to us. In that case, I'm sorry

I think it's Dwyane Wade, He has 2 rookies on his team, doesn't have a center... He's playing great on both sides on the court,...

Or Tim Duncan, just like shaq, proving people wrong...

LeBron isn't doing anything Kobe wasn't doing a couple of years ago when Bryant averaged 35-5-5 and he didn't win it.

If the Lakers end up with the best record in the west, Kobe should win it once again.

I'm sorry, but that is simply inaccurate. If you ask Bean himself, he'd tell you he wasn't playing the "right" way. Those couple years right after Shaq left town were very painful as a Laker fan.

What LBJ has showed this year.. mouth dropping stuff. He's putting up God numbers, has better highlights every night, and his team is winning.

Then you haven't watch LeBron play this year to make this statement. There is a huge difference between what Kobe did that year and what LeBron is doing this year.

One huge difference is LeBron is winning more games.

Not to mention LBJ's supporting cast is nothing to brag about.

I disagree. Kobe did what he had to to keep that team close. His teammates were horrible. He gave them ample chances to take and make shots, but they wouldn't and couldn't. They sat around and watched.... Kobe could have played just like he is now, but the team wouldn't have won a game. They had no shooters, no aggressive players, and nobody that knew the triangle or had a brain. Kobe lifted those teams onto his shoulders and got them into the playoffs with NOTHING.

You gotta have players to play the "right way"... if you don't, you just pass up too many scoring opportunities for yourself and give them to others who can't and won't keep your team in the ball game.

Common misconception. His teammates have been wonderful this year, especially recently, getting plenty of scoring help from Delonte and Mo.

LeBron, surprisingly, actually has a good team around him. Now sure, some of it is a product of playing with LeBron, but there is plenty of times that when LeBron is off the court, the Cavs increase their lead. LeBron is also playing the least amount of minutes in his career.

LeBron with a good supporting cast is just proving what I already knew, he's the best player in the world. We saw that in the Olympics and we're going to see that this year in the NBA.

Wow, I am impressed. It actually took a couple of pages before this turned into Kobe vs. Lebron.

The season right after Shaq was traded, you can't tell me Kobe played team basketball. The season after that is when you could really start seeing him attempting to adjust, but basically he still wasn't getting it. In his third season without Shaq, I'll give you that he really tried to depend on teammates.. they were garbage.

Compared to the upper echelon teams, LBJ on paper doesn't have comparable talent.

And LeBron doesn't need to have that around him either. All he needed was another player who is a borderline all-star, and he has that with Mo Williams.

But on paper, no, the Cavs don't have the overall talent of either Boston or LA.

Lebron's teammates have always been underrated, and they're underrated now. The Cavs have always been challenged as far as scoring, but they were also a fantastic defensive and rebounding team. I'm surprised that so many knowledgeable basketball people around here fail to see that. The Cavs are tall, smart defensively and they rebound well. Getting rid of Larry Hughes was addition by subtraction, Boobie is a solid backup and the acquisition Mo Williams made them a legit squad.

Like everyone else in the league, they don't have the talent of the Lakers or Celtics, nor are they as good. Neither they, nor Lebron are overachieving or playing above their heads by getting to the ECF this year though.

That having been said, Lebron is having a great year so far. I like that he's making free throws and hitting the occasional jump shot.

Na, I've given them their props for Brown's Spurs' style defense for years.

I can't fathom how his teammates have been "underrated" before this year though.

I'd have to say Paul. He's been amazing thus far.

Lebron and Wade a close 2nd.

When people compare them to the Smush/Kwame/Cook Lakers. For that team to make it into the playoffs in the West and almost beat the Suns is a miracle of Jackson and Bryant. On the Cavs, you have guys who are either starters or sixth men around the league. On that Laker team, you have a bunch of guys who aren't even IN the league now, and if they are, they aren't playing.
