So far the best overall player has been Joe Johnson.

Na. Actually I've watched every Laker game thus far, including the Olympics. LBJ has been playing at another level. Plain and simple. Kobe isn't really that much behind though. He just doesn't have to assert himself nearly as much to display that he still is the best player in the world. His teammates allow him to fly under the radar in a sense.

Besides not putting up numbers, like I said he hasn't been deadly yet, hasn't shown that God-mode yet. Doesn't have that lift at all on dunks. His jumper is coming around though, so maybe he just needs to get a couple months under his belt to earn his belt back.

I think Wade only plays highlight reel defense (i.e. gambling for steals and blocks) instead of trying to stay in front of his man... and come on now, LeBron hasn't played defense in his career and this season definitely isn't an exception.

I consider Wade to be in the Marcus Camby category of defenders -- great numbers, but teams are usually better off on that end of the floor without him (look at the Nuggets this year, even before the AI trade!).

Anyways I have to go with LBJ, dude would probably win 70 games with the Lakers roster in the east.

I remember reading that and saying gtfo.

LBJ and there's no discussion at this point. As the season progresses we shall see.

Well, we've seen the Lakers win games even when Kobe was shooting bad and didn't score much. No doubt that Kobe is the biggest talent in the NBA today but as for this particular season it's too early imo. Gasol can get injured or Bynum and then we'll have to see if Kobe still has the abilty to raise his game to new heights like he used to do the past few seasons. James is having his best season so far, even if he doesn't score as much as he could. What I like about CP3 is that he's improving every season he plays. I'm curious to see what he's gonna do 3 years from now...
But again, it's too early. I'd say let's wait for the allstar break.

No, you're definitely not. I watch the games and the team is like a well oiled machine even when Kobe is off the floor.
Also in this guy's post about James' defense being bad and this year being no exception, DEFINITELY not true. James' defense has improved in the past year, and people who pay attention to this when watching games can easily attest to that.

No love for my dude Timmy D? He has been the only star player from the spurs until recently and has helped them to stay above water and now they are above 500 with Ginobili back.
