Westy you don't even know me. I don't hate anyone. I have a favorite player in TMAC, and that's all. If MJ wanted to brag, he could have, putting away real elite players like Magic, Ewing, Malone & Stockton, etc..
I don't want to get in an argument, but Kobe was being cocky. No doubt about it. I know he doesn't need Shaq to score 30, but there are many other players in the league that could do the same thing.
You can't tell me whether he's doubled or not, the other team isn't worried about Shaq. Let him have a team like KG and see what he can do first.
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
Ok bro, when has Kobe EVER bragged out putting away anyone? Did he brag after scoring 42 in half on MJ's night in LA? All the kid said was that he could put the ball in the hole whenever....which is true. That's confidence, not cockiness man. He NEVER belittles other players with words--just does it with his game. Name one great player who was never confident, they don't exist.
Yes you are ***** of kobe. I've read so many posts by you criticizing him, saying stupid crap..if he was in T-MAC's shoes...or if Shaq that, come on, get over it. Kobe and T-Mac are two my favorite players, I even try to model my own game after T-Mac's(at least I try heh). But I do think Kobe's on a little higher level then T-Mac, of course I'm biased becuase I watch Kobe play everynight. But I never try to discredit T-MAc for what he's done, said or what not. Bottom line, confidence, cockiness, whatever you wanna call it is a good character trait, and most people who have it, usually are the ones who suceed in life.
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
Call me what you want, but you obviously haven't read enough of my post, especially for giving Kobe props for being a great talented player. Don't get me wrong again, the guy can flat out play ball. I enjoy the intensity he brings to the game, but his statement was cocky to me, and I do think his circumstances would be different if he were in the shoes of KG or TMAC. It's my opinion. You saw what happened to the Lakers when Shaq was out. (I know, the team was built for Shaq)
I am posting my opinions in a I hate the Lakers thread, so maybe you should take the pro KB post to the Kobe thread. I don't go in there and call him cocky, or any other thing.Nor do I call anyone in there haters, or anything else for that matter. I was just stating my opinion.
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
KDRE, I'm very disappointed in you. Why haven't you figured out that westybro is right all the time and those of us that are not Laker fans don't know a damn thing? Get with the program man, because if you can't keep up you might as well not even be in the race. But I did find one little flaw with his statement. There is a HUGE (using all caps for effect, because that's what all the cool people do) difference between cockiness and confidence. People admire somebody with confidence and can't stand those who are cocky.
For the life of me, I still can't figure out what "obessed" means.Comment

@ neovmatrix You're right. I dont know about you. But I only know so much about Jordan since I didnt grow up watching him. And thats the same with a lot of us here. So we're kinda mixing things up between how he was in the mid to late 90's and his stint with the wizards.
I think Athletes reach a point where they are at peace with themselves and dont have to worry about being cocky and they even come of as humble. But its mostly tied to maturity which is tied to age.
I cannot imagine a 35 year old MJ sounding "cocky" although he always knew he was the best. But I can imagine the young MJ being like that.
That being said I feel its best we compare players like Kobe to their peers(i.e Tracy, A.I. Vince etc) rather than comparing them with legends like Mike that do no wrong in our eyes.

I gave a direct quote from MJ in an earlier post, and you didn't read it. You only assume what MJ has said, and I gave you one good direct quote from MJ's mouth. The Pistons and Knicks needed to get their egos blown away because they basically tried to hurt MJ and Pip, and other players in the games they played.
Kobe is just running his mouth. He doesn't face constant triple teams with no Shaq. If he had played against those Pistons of the late 80's early 90's he would have been tossed like a salad.
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
Ur just a *****. Kobe doesn't NEED shaq to get 30 a night. When he scores, he usually CREATES his own shot. He DOES get double triple teamed every night, wth are u talking about. Kobe has PROVEN he can put the ball in the whole whenver he chooses. Hell, when the guy wants to prove he can shoot 3's he breaks the NBA record. When hes told to be more aggressive, he averages 40 for month and vice versa when asked to tone it down for Shaq. Kobe is to smart to be cocky, hes just confident and knows what he can do and has proved it. The jordan comment seemed MORE cocky than Kobe's IMO, but who gives a rat ***? Both their games do the talking, thats all that matters.
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
<font color="red">Man please, Kobe ain’t never seen a real double team, because of Shaq, Shaq is the one who gets double team not Kobe. If Kobe got double teamed every game Shaq would be averaging 44 a game!! Cut the crap, Kobe is great player in this league but, we all know he’ll struggle the minute he goes solo.</font>
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
riiiiight......... Kobe never gets doubled. You must watch a lot of Lakers games.
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
Its not that he doesn't get doubled team MADSKILLZ he does however have easier lanes to drive unlike players like AI or TMac cause people are afraid to leave Shaq so rotations are late lanes are more open. However Kobe could score 30 a game give or take with out Shaq but he wouldn't make the playoffs and if he did he wouldn't get out the first roundComment

Oh the agony of having a different opinion than a Laker fan.
I don't worry on what Westy says about me really. This is the Laker ***** thread. Check the avatars. I don't like them, and Kobe doesn't have to be my favorite player. He also didn't torch MJ for 50 points. I think people (laker fans, and bandwagon riders)just say that, because they desperately want Kobe to be MJ's heir.
MJ didn't even guard Kobe, it was Stackhouse, and what a big accomplishment to hit 50 on the Wizards.
Kobe has posters of MJ on his wall, not the other way around.
As far as the Lakers are concerned, I still think Kobe comments were cocky, Shaq talks entirely too much.(Peolpe think you're dumb without knowing you Shaq, then you open your mouth, and now people know you are), he used to be cool, but now has a pretty jacked up attitude. I hope they lose because I just don't like them.Comment

Re: The Official I hate the Los Angeles Lakers thread....
KDRE hits the nail on the head on why a lot of people "hate" the Lakers and why some people who used to like the Lakers (like me) have become turned off by them.
IT'S THEIR ATTITUDE!
Kobe is way too confident at times. That interview he did the other night saying that he can score at any time just makes me wanna punch the guy. Here's a guy that's SUPPOSED to be the Next One yet he's running off his mouth like a common everday superstar. You never saw MJ saying that. Sure MJ would hint at that but never say it outright. He had the class not to degrade his opponents.
We've discussed Shaq's stupid and outlandish behaviour throughout this season. I'm glad that it seems to be only a front because that thread a while back about him corresponding with a US army guy was very touching.
Even the role players on the Lakers think they've got mad game and can kick everyone's ***. You never saw the Bulls role players be cocky and talking about how they're gonna win and all that jazz.
Unfortunately, If Karl Malone signs with the Lakers I'm going to have to "shivers" at least have tolerance for the Lake show.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
