For the sake of discussion. Assuming Kobe was the second best player in the league right now. It means only the best can say what he said. But not the "second best". So if during MJ's years, someone like Clyde Drexler, Dominique Wilkins, Isiah Thomas said what "the best" said - they would be cocky?

Im confused. I can agree with you saying talking like that is Cocky. Thats fine. But then you add a disclaimer saying Its not Cocky because MJ was the best and since we are not sure is Kobe is the best, It is therefore wrong for him to say, but ok for MJ to say.

would you consider kobe the best if he doesn't even have an MVP award? if you are to be called the best, where is the MVP? where is the rookie of the year? he only got rings because of shaq and phil jackson!

No, I dont want to get into who the best is. You said it urself. He is one of the best. And like i said earlier, to make this easier for the sake of argument, lets say he is not the best. 2nd 3rd 4th 5th, 6th best....whatever. Could you respond to the argument above. yah honestly he is ONE of the best players in the league right now. but i don't think players like clyde would say that things. kobe is way much too cocky!

ok jordan talk to the media with a classy approach. in the way after hearing what he said, you will just go "wow very proffesional" in the way you can really respect the person. not like " WOW, he's cocky!"

By the way, I've heard T-mac or AI say similar comments, but I bet you never called them cocky. Pretty Much all the Elite Athletes talk about how unstoppable they are" With the exception of the really humble ones like TD, KG, etc).Even Ricky Davis.. So while you are right about it being cocky, you have to admit you cant single him out.
