Kobe is way too confident at times. That interview he did the other night saying that he can score at any time just makes me wanna punch the guy. Here's a guy that's SUPPOSED to be the Next One yet he's running off his mouth like a common everday superstar. You never saw MJ saying that. Sure MJ would hint at that but never say it outright. He had the class not to degrade his opponents.

Give me another example of when Kobe was way too cocky and degraded his opponents.

Westy you don't even know me. I don't hate anyone. I have a favorite player in TMAC, and that's all. If MJ wanted to brag, he could have, putting away real elite players like Magic, Ewing, Malone & Stockton, etc..

I don't want to get in an argument, but Kobe was being cocky. No doubt about it. I know he doesn't need Shaq to score 30, but there are many other players in the league that could do the same thing.

You can't tell me whether he's doubled or not, the other team isn't worried about Shaq. Let him have a team like KG and see what he can do first.

Ok bro, when has Kobe EVER bragged out putting away anyone? Did he brag after scoring 42 in half on MJ's night in LA? All the kid said was that he could put the ball in the hole whenever....which is true. That's confidence, not cockiness man. He NEVER belittles other players with words--just does it with his game. Name one great player who was never confident, they don't exist.

Yes you are ***** of kobe. I've read so many posts by you criticizing him, saying stupid crap..if he was in T-MAC's shoes...or if Shaq that, come on, get over it. Kobe and T-Mac are two my favorite players, I even try to model my own game after T-Mac's(at least I try heh). But I do think Kobe's on a little higher level then T-Mac, of course I'm biased becuase I watch Kobe play everynight. But I never try to discredit T-MAc for what he's done, said or what not. Bottom line, confidence, cockiness, whatever you wanna call it is a good character trait, and most people who have it, usually are the ones who suceed in life.

Call me what you want, but you obviously haven't read enough of my post, especially for giving Kobe props for being a great talented player. Don't get me wrong again, the guy can flat out play ball. I enjoy the intensity he brings to the game, but his statement was cocky to me, and I do think his circumstances would be different if he were in the shoes of KG or TMAC. It's my opinion. You saw what happened to the Lakers when Shaq was out. (I know, the team was built for Shaq)

I am posting my opinions in a I hate the Lakers thread, so maybe you should take the pro KB post to the Kobe thread. I don't go in there and call him cocky, or any other thing.Nor do I call anyone in there haters, or anything else for that matter. I was just stating my opinion.

KDRE, I'm very disappointed in you. Why haven't you figured out that westybro is right all the time and those of us that are not Laker fans don't know a damn thing? Get with the program man, because if you can't keep up you might as well not even be in the race. But I did find one little flaw with his statement. There is a HUGE (using all caps for effect, because that's what all the cool people do) difference between cockiness and confidence. People admire somebody with confidence and can't stand those who are cocky.

Now that's funny^^^^^. Son, I knew what it was, my critical thinking skill are just fine thank you, and I was just busting your balls. But what I find interesting is that you wouldn't reply to the crux of the post. The simple fact that you become hyper critical if somebody says anything about the Lakers that you don't agree with. We have eyes and ears too, and we see and hear things differently when it comes to things the Lakers might do or say, because there is the outside chance that our judgement isn't clouded by a myopic view point. You are entitled to your view point, but please don't expect any of us to roll over and play dead while being stared down by mighty Laker fan.

Oh the agony of having a different opinion than a Laker fan.
I don't worry on what Westy says about me really. This is the Laker ***** thread. Check the avatars. I don't like them, and Kobe doesn't have to be my favorite player. He also didn't torch MJ for 50 points. I think people (laker fans, and bandwagon riders)just say that, because they desperately want Kobe to be MJ's heir.

MJ didn't even guard Kobe, it was Stackhouse, and what a big accomplishment to hit 50 on the Wizards.

Kobe has posters of MJ on his wall, not the other way around.

As far as the Lakers are concerned, I still think Kobe comments were cocky, Shaq talks entirely too much.(Peolpe think you're dumb without knowing you Shaq, then you open your mouth, and now people know you are), he used to be cool, but now has a pretty jacked up attitude. I hope they lose because I just don't like them.

All I said about you was that you're a *****. Which you are, read the post you just wrote. And whats the title of this sticky thread you're posting in? Yet you you're not a *****? I could really care less either way bro, and I'm not even insulting you. But you called Kobe COCKY for one comment he made, which I believe is confidence. And I NEVER said Kobe torched MJ for 50, I said he scored 42 in a half on the wiz on MJ's last night in LA. Did you even watch that game?

confidence: felling of certainty, trust in one's own ability

Kobe has trust in his game and that he can score whenever(which he has proved) It would be different if Ricky Davis said some crap like that. Sure fans, who never really liked Kobe or the Lakers to begin with, will call Kobe cocky. But great coaches and great players of the past, will view this as confidence becuase they were once just like him.

              cocky :, conceited and arrogant

When has Kobe every said he was better or above any player in the game today, or in the past? He has always given respect to players before him.

Great statement, and I admire Kobe FOR his confidence, just like I respected MJ for his. If MJ was a humble little wuss, he WOULD have NEVER done the things he did. I just don't think people can call Kobe cocky after one statement, but thats their opinions and I respect that, doesn't mean I HAVE to agree with it.

So lhayes, don't respond to my posts, trying to make yourself look smart. Reply if you have something constructive to say old man.

KDRE stated his opinion, and I gave reasons why I didn't agree. Then the mighty lhayes comes to the rescue "busting my balls" saying Westybro is always right, and he's cool becuase he types in all CAPS. STFU, you make me laugh man. Now, what was the CRUX of that post???!!? You wrote ONE meaningful sentence in the that whole reply.
Quote:

People admire somebody with confidence and can't stand those who are cocky.

Re: The Official I hate the Los Angeles Lakers thread....

Hey man, just defend Kobe in the Kobe thread. I don't like the Lakers, you call it hate if you want, but I don't like the Raptors, Bucks, Cavs, so does that just make me a ***** of them too?

I said Kobe's comment was cocky, and stand by that, and who cares anyway. I don't have anything personal to say about you, because I respect all posters on this board, but as I said before, this is not a defend Kobe or the Lakers thread, this is why I don't like them. Their attitude. I liked the team with Eddie Jones, Nick, Kbe, Shaq, and Elden. They got rid of 3 of those guys, and after winning a couple rings, now Shaq acts like the league bully, cursing the refs, cursing his teammates, swinging at players on other teams, threatening other teams players, making all kinds of stupid comments about other organizations, and players who win season awards, and olympic spots, ignorant comments about players from other countries, etc... you know the stories, which is unprofessional as a player in the league, and champ.

I respect Kobe's game, but he should stop denying he not trying to be like MJ. If you are fine, he is the greatest, but don't do all sorts of things, on , and off court to mimmic him, and then act like it's all of your own mannerisms, and ways.

Actually I found Jordan to be quite humble. I also found Hakeem, Stockton, Malone, Drexler, Dr. J, McHale and many more to be just as humble. All those guys turned out to be rather successful players if you ask me. Confidence is something you carry inside, and it goes hand in hand with humility. Cockiness is without a doubt a rather loathsome trait to have, and I'm sure many will agree with me. Now one of the things that has always impressed me about Kobe is that he hasn't fallen into all these BS games that the rest of the Lakers have, such as Shaq, Fox and Fisher. For that he should be commended. Some of the antics that these guys have participated in have had an aura of cockiness to them, and that perception is well deserved. Are the Lakers confident? Yes, without a doubt. Are they cocky? Again, yes they are. But the cocky gets old really fast, hence the inception of threads such as this. The "hate" that many people have for the Lakers is well deserved, while it maybe juvenile, it is most ceratinly deserved. And it doesn't stem from jealousy, which many fans of the Lakers like to think, it comes from listneing to all the crap that flows from their mouths. The Bulls won 6 titles in 8 years, and they did not suffer from the universal hate that the Lakers do. Why is that? Because they won with style, grace and humility.

Jordan was as confident as they come. I'm sure he has made many statements that can be interpreted as cocky. How can you say the Bulls weren't hated? They were just as hated as the Lakers were. Yes most of the hate does come from jealously, it's human nature. I agree about Shaq, he's a ungrateful punk. But the rest of the Lakers are as classy as they come. In all honesty, if they get knocked out of the playoffs this year, they won't biatch and cry like Sacramento did.
