The development of this guy has been amazing in my opinion.

I remember back when the KG and Ray Ray trades went down. Everyone questioned the Celtics point guard spot. People were saying that the Celtics should try and acquire a point guard, and they brought in Sam. Nobody believed that Rondo could lead this Celtic team and would be the weak point for the Celtics.

Boy has he proved all the critics wrong.

This is only his third year. He was instrumental to the Celtics championship last year in only his sophomore season. He's only 23 years old.

Look what he's doing in this years playoffs. Almost averaging a triple double with 19 pts- 11 asts- 9 rebs in KG's absence. That's sick. That's to go along with his 3 steals. He also is leading this years playoffs in triple doubles with 3 already. Rondo is 9th in rebounds, 9th! To go along with the fact that he's tops in assist numbers.

During the season, he ranked fifth in assists & steals, and was sixth in triple doubles with 15 on the year (not including the three he already has in this years playoffs, which is tops in the league).

The kid plays great on both sides of the ball. He plays great on ball D. What's even crazier is how much he impacts the game with no jumper. Rondo is a great talent.

I seriously think Rajon is underrated by many. He is one of the best point guards in the league.

If he is not an elite point guard, he definitely will be soon.

The sky is the limit for this guy. Rondo could be a hall of fame player. He is a franchise player in my eyes. A future great at the rate he is going.

Celtics fans, you have a special player in Rondo. But, I think you all knew that. There's a lot of people out there that don't.

He's slowly becoming cheap and dirty, and he has trouble shooting.

It would infuriate me if he did that crap while playing for Phoenix.

I'm kicking myself more over Rudy Fernandez than Rajon Rondo.

I don't know if he proved his critics wrong by and large. Obviously there are some people with unreasonable criticisms, but reasonable people didn't say he'd NEVER be good. They just questioned if he'd be a liability in the post season. I'd call that a wash. He stepped up and played well sometimes, and other times Doc had to protect him by sitting him for long stretches of time. I remember Doc protecting him in interviews when discussing that decision.

Now that having been said, Rajon has developed into a very nice young point guard. He's extremely athletic, which was in the scouting report before he played last year, but he's also become a very, very good defender and decision maker.

I shy away from comparisons to truly elite point guards in the league, because I think the Celtics' system plays to Rondo's strengths. Not that he'd be a bust if you sent him elsewhere, but if you traded him straight up for TP right now, I think the C's would leap back into the championship discussion.

Anybody who thought he couldn't run the point for the Celtics when the trades went down had never watched him play, which was understandable because Boston was never on TV back then. He's a very similar player to Tony Parker. The difference is TP is expected to be the 1st or 2nd scorer where Rondo isn't. Their playstyle and their stats in most every category are nearly identical.

Please don't compare Tony Parker to Rajon Rondo. Tony Parker is one of the best finishers in the NBA.

Rondo has him beat in rebounding though.

1. Rondo actually finished in 7th place in assists on the season. Still impressive but he didn't finish 5th.

2. Rondo only had two triple doubles all regular season. I have absolutely no idea where you are getting such a ridiculous number like 15 from. That's more than twice what the league leader (LeBron James with 7) had.

Having said that, he is a very good point guard, but there are still at least two others in the NBA that he is way behind.

i think he has improved a lot. He can hit jump shots now lol well some. He is def a good fit for the celtics but if he could be more of an outside threat his defender would have to play him tighter and create more space. Do what tp did last offseason (or the offseason before?) saying that i think he has great composure on court. He runs the team nicely

I like Rondo alot, and he may be the leagues premier push guard now that Kidd and Nash have slowed. Dude is a one man break waiting to happen, and we know he's a very good defender. He also has some nice intangibles, some toughness and a pretty good IQ. But I still think his numbers are a bit skewed by having aging HOF's around him, and i'm sorry but there is no way in h*ll I would build a team around Rondo like I would the elite PG's. And not only is his jumper suspect, he's a 64% career FT shooter, which is going to KILL him when he becomes a primary guy like Harris and TP. Teams will keep him on the line, taking away his drive game, Rondo's only real scoring weapon at this point. Right now, solid transition D and good PnR defense can pretty much take Rondo right out of the game as a scorer, and limit him as a playmaker.

Mad props to a young guy who has really seized his opportunity, but I have to see how good Rondo is in 3-4 more years, when he has to be 'the man'. His situation reminds me of how good Randy Moss, Chris Carter and Robert Smith made Daunte Culpepper look...
