Re: What Do You Think About RAJON RONDO?
I like Rondo alot, and he may be the leagues premier push guard now that Kidd and Nash have slowed. Dude is a one man break waiting to happen, and we know he's a very good defender. He also has some nice intangibles, some toughness and a pretty good IQ. But I still think his numbers are a bit skewed by having aging HOF's around him, and i'm sorry but there is no way in h*ll I would build a team around Rondo like I would the elite PG's. And not only is his jumper suspect, he's a 64% career FT shooter, which is going to KILL him when he becomes a primary guy like Harris and TP. Teams will keep him on the line, taking away his drive game, Rondo's only real scoring weapon at this point. Right now, solid transition D and good PnR defense can pretty much take Rondo right out of the game as a scorer, and limit him as a playmaker.
Mad props to a young guy who has really seized his opportunity, but I have to see how good Rondo is in 3-4 more years, when he has to be 'the man'. His situation reminds me of how good Randy Moss, Chris Carter and Robert Smith made Daunte Culpepper look...Comment

Re: What Do You Think About RAJON RONDO?
he had better get in that gym and learn how to at least knock down a mid-range jump shot first... in my opinion he will never surpass cp3 or d-williams... unless those guys decide they dont wanna go rondo should never be invited...#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: What Do You Think About RAJON RONDO?
I think too much may be made of his not being able to hit a jumper. I mean he can add that to his game and its not like he is shooting airballs from 15-20 ft.
That is a nice package to add to his game but there are a few very good players who came in the league without a jumper and acquired one over time.
He is the starting pg for a championship team. How many people in the league last year could say that ? for that reason alone he has my respect and when you watch the C's this year he flat gets it done. There are 7' who aren't getting 9 rebs a game. Where I am from we call those numbers ballin' Period.
The playoffs are not only the biggest stage but the most difficult to shine because of the advanced scouting thats done and prep work when you know your going to play the same team for at least 4 and possible 7 games. If you can't be exposed for not having a J on your road to a championship then you have time to get one.
True statement was made though about his FT % if that was accurate then he needs to work on it.
Yeah he has a nasty streak and Isiah had one too you don't have to like those types of players but its wise to respect him cause he has so far shown himself to be a gamer.
that said yes he should acquire a Jumper but he shouldn't be discredited because they still find a way to win without it.
oh and age aside Chauncy should be considered in any best pg in the league discussion to me if you start take in to account the intangibles like leadership. Cousin is NICE.Last edited by Da_Czar; 05-08-2009, 08:47 AM.Catch me on that #SimNation #SimHangOut Friday's @ 10:00 pm est https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...N7yxMiElOpMl_BComment

Rondo is a flat out MONSTER! If he really develops a mid/long range jumper and hit it consistently, he will definitely be an All-Star and cement his place among the first tier point guards in the league.Originally posted by J. when will the selection process begin?...a year from now?
Rondo is going to be an awesome player in the NBA, but I dont know if his game right now is as suited for the international gameComment

Re: What Do You Think About RAJON RONDO?
Okay the points you all make for Rondo can be made for majority of the other pg's
Chauncey played with Rip,Ben,Rasheed, and Prince in they're prime
CP3 relies on his teammates more than Rondo,I've never seen Paul takeover down the stretch in a crucial game! Hence Pargo
And the I'll never build a team around Rondo is very stupid....He's already one a championship running a team.
They could've had this lineup and still been decent
Perkins
Jefferson
Pierce
T.Allen
Rondo
Actually the only two HOF players that helps Rondo is Ray Allen and KG and KG isn't even playing,Pierce isolates 95% of his points.
He had a good game with Pierce only playing 10-15 minutes and KG not even dressing.
Give credit where credit is due because Chauncey isn't carrying no team on his bac either.Comment

When I say lineups, I mean that his current team and offensive scheme cater very much towards his strengths, and that's good. But if you put him on a team that is less motion and screen oriented, but more inside-out post up oriented, his lack of a jumper could really hurt. If he's dropping it down to a post player, you get a free double team, and you'd have to have the SG dump it into the post so Rajon's man has to come all the way from the weakside, and this limits your offensive options. Right now, with Ray, PP, House and big men who can hit a jumper, Boston doesn't suffer from this.
The other issue is Team USA. When we're evaluating the best PGs in the league and selecting three to get us a gold medal, we have to make the right choice. In international play, they zone up and outshoot us. When that happens, we need people who can get buckets no matter what. Eventually you gotta penetrate, but sometimes you need a shot maker to flat out bust that zone.
We saw it this past summer...some of those younger dudes were getting desperate out there, and they had to put the ball in the hands of players who were going to make shots, and not get frozen up by that zone.
So I agree that when you describe Rondo, the first thing that comes out of your mouth shouldn't be "he has no jumper". Nor should the second thing. But eventually when you're looking at his report card, you gotta explain why he has a D in science, and know not to put him in the lab.Comment
