the West was probably tougher last season than it will be this season. Houston, New Orleans, Utah, and the Suns will probably be worse....while the Mavs have opportunities to be better.

Dallas will not be worse than last season unless they have the same injury problems that they had last season...or unless Kidd leaves, which means JET has to play PG instead of SG.

the Mavs have not missed the playoffs, or won less than 50 games, in over 9 years. I would take that bet

it will probably be a combination of the two, but I agree that the money will be the #1 factor

and yes the Mavs do have a better team than the Knicks [/understatement]
I agree totally with your post, I still think Kidd could also get the Knicks into the Playoffs as we are not that far off. Now if we lose David Lee then forget it.

EDIT: BTW looks like Dallas has made an offer to Gortat, which might help keep J-KIDD stay in Dallas

I would rather the Knicks go after Nash. Its getting more likely that he will leave Phoenix as they are trading every one that has been on the Suns for more than two years. If he declines, then NY would be his #1 destination

Please get back to me when Hedo scores 50 in the playoffs. I mean come on, Hedo and Dirk aren't even comparable in the playoffs.

The comparison of the two players' overall scoring abilities was never made. I said Nowitzki was shaky in the clutch.

Even though Nowitzki scored those 50 points against an inept defensive team and defensive player (Diaw) it was still a true superstar game. Unfortunately, as the leader of his team he failed to make the adjustments necessary to win the following series even though his team held a 12 point lead with 6 minutes left in game 3.

LOL interesting that you couldnt respond to my post.

Dirk was STILL better in those finals than Hedo has ever been in any series in his career. As far as your favorite cliche word "clutch"...it doesnt get any more "clutch" than the go ahead shot Dirk hit over Shaq and Haslem with 9 seconds left in game 5, series tied 2-2

but of course, an out of control DWade goes 1 on 4 out of control and was bailed out with a whistle from a ref standing 30 feet behind the play for the win with 1.8 seconds left in the game. It gives DWhistle more free throws than the entire Dallas team and the all time record for FTs in a finals game and the Heat the win...and because of that whistle, Wade is "clutch" LMAO. If Salvatore doesnt blow that bail out whistle, the Mavs win the series and the MVP is Dirk....but the NBA had other plans.

Did you even watch that finals? Like ive said before, it would be chicken **** to hold the WWE crap in that series against Dirk.

anyway, you can not count on two hands the total players in the league right now that have been more clutch in the playoffs overall in their careers than Nowitzki has been...but you obviously havent watched many Mavs playoff games over the years. I cant blame you for not watching Dallas games, but you should probably refrain from acting like you know what the **** you are talking about regarding the Mavericks because you clearly dont.

You wanna get on Dirk for that NBA finals, get on Hedo too for shooting them out of that series with some QUESTIONABLE at best shot selection.

Its okay ZB, Dirk is still a very good player. You have to understand though that there will be human errors in every game. The officials did not cheat you out of a title ZB. Dirk is not solely the person to blame. Terry and his short armed shooting in the clutch contributed along with Howard calling a timeout prematurely in game 6. Not to mention Avery Johnson's dictating coaching style and Devin Harris' young mistakes.

Donnie Walsh acknowledged that he can offer more than a one-year contract to potential free agents after a report surfaced stating that he would offer Jason Kidd a three-year deal.

If the Knicks are going to offer Kidd three years, which is what the Mavericks are offering, the chances of him going to New York look much better - even if the offer is for less money. Kidd would love to play for Mike D'Antoni and his kids live in New York. "I have a little leeway which will leave me in good position for next year," Walsh wrote to The Associated Press. "I know what it is but do not talk much about it."

                                2. I'm pretty sure Kidd would run the offense, as he is more than capable.
                                3. I'm pretty sure Donnie Walsh was up-front with him about the Knicks future plans. With that being said it all depends on who comes here next year.
                                4. Dallas is nothing but an 8 seed in the WEST, if they're lucky as the WEST is very competitive. So this thing about Dallas being a playoff team to me is only on paper.

The reality is if he stays in DALLAS it will be because he got more money & not because the Mavs have a better team than the Knicks or chance have a better chance of making the playoffs
The Knicks will not make the playoffs next year.

Signing Kidd to a multi-year deal makes NO sense whatsoever for their 2010 plans.

                                I don't want him here.

Clearly, he's using the Knicks to leverage a huge contract (also his last contract) somewhere else.
