Is Rondo a top 5 PG?

    His agent thinks he is...

An unnamed source told Boston sports radio station WEEI that the Celtics offered Rondo a five-year, $45 million extension (an average of $9 million per year), but Rondo is seeking a five-year deal worth between $55 million and $60 million (an average of $11 million to $12 million per year).

Re: Is Rondo a top 5 PG?

      My list:

      1. CP3
      2. Williams
      3. Rose
      4. Rondo
      5. Parker
      6. Harris
      7. Miller
      8. Billups
      9. Nash
      10. Kidd

This is based on the players who have the most time in their careers left. I know Kidd and Nash are locks to the HOF, but they are old. I really think Rose has the capability to be #1 in the next three to five years.

In response to the question, Rondo is a top 5 PG. He's the only one other than Parker on my list that has a ring. I might be the only person who thinks that without the Big 3, he would still be successful in the league. My .02 cents...

Looking at that list, yeah I guess he is in the top 5. I would put Parker over him, but that would still put him in the top 5.

Yeah, I'd say he's definitely in the 4-7 range, depending on your preferences. I'd have him at 5, same as above (Paul/Williams/Rose/Parker/Rondo).

I'd absolutely love to know what in Danny Ainge's opinion is wrong with Rondo. I've never seen a GM trash and constantly keep trying to trade a really good player who to my knowledge isnt a chronic felon or troublemaker.

Cant really disagree with that list. Tony Parker does not play any sort of defense and nor does he try.
I dont remember there names but they were allot of fun....

We shoulda got a deal done this summer now Rondo is hearing the rumors that he could get a near max contract this summer and it's probably getting to his head

                  The dynasty will return

                      My list would be:

                      CP3
                      Williams
                      Parker
Rondo (his defensive abilities as well as his 50%+ shooting without a reliable jumper puts him here)
Nash (old dude still has it, watch him get back to 18/11 territory this season with a healthy Amare), otherwise Rose would be here

I think he is in the top 8 at least. Still, I have no idea why the aging Celtics wouldn't want to lock this guy up. Maybe it has something to do with things mentioned in this article. http://www.celticsblog.com/2009/10/2...le-in-espn-mag

The only thing I can guess is that Ainge wants to completely rebuild after the Ray Ray/KG/Pierce era is over and doesn't want $60m tied up long term to point guard thus limiting his rebuilding options.

Just read this article. And yes this guy is a top PG. His jumper will come, but pretty much every other part of his game is already there.

Defense, IQ, vision, handles, beat man off the dribble, lateral quicks, straight line speed, finishes at the rim as well as any other PG in the league, hops, lengthy, stamina, he has it all.

Put him on another team and he'd be doing the same things. PG's by nature don't win you titles. So don't give me the "oh well he plays with Boston," line. If I was Boston I would make sure I could get players to fit in around Rondo if I was going to spend big money on the guy. A good PG with limited weapons is pointless.

I think Ainge is fantasizing about the next free agent class (i.e. Kevin Durant)
