Re: Guess who already sounds upset in Memphis
You're right. I definitely don't agree with that. However, there is plenty of blame to go around. Iverson has been around a long time. He knows the most effective way to bring about change is through the media. Don't agree with it however."Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."Comment

Re: Guess who already sounds upset in Memphis
Well that is ALL we are trying to say. We are saying it was an IMMATURE decision by a 13 year vet. WHY is he STILL acting this way is the problem we have with him. NOTHING FURTHER.Concrete evidence/videos pleaseComment

Which is weird because the one thing AI never did before was air dirty laundry to the press. Why the change now?Comment

Re: Guess who already sounds upset in Memphis
Do you guys not realize that Hollins has said publicly he won't have a private talk with Allen Iverson? He said he has no reason to talk to Allen Iverson. That is even more disrespectful then what Iverson did. A player has an issue and a coach is saying he won't even talk to him about it.
"I think that's probably the worst part of all this," Iverson said after the loss to the Lakers. "That while all this is going on, we have never talked to each other. That's probably why it's at this point right now. We've just never had a conversation, so it's probably going to always be hard for me and him to see eye-to-eye, because we've never even talked to each other. Obviously that's what you do if you're trying to accomplish the same goal."Last edited by o_capone; 11-08-2009, 12:45 AM.Comment

He's saying that he doesn't need to talk to AI in the context that "there's no problem, why do we need to talk about it?" in an effort to play it off and keep things running smoothly. Not in the context of disrespecting Allen. At least that's how I read it.Comment

Of course he gets the benefit of the doubt lol... The way Hollins has talked about this situation has been very disrespectful.Comment

Re: Guess who already sounds upset in Memphis
The fact of the matter is Iverson feels disrespected by the world. Lionel Hollins lives in this world therefore Lionel Hollins has disrespected Allen Iverson.
As Mike Smith mentioned on the Clippers broadcast it would be a shame if Iverson doesn't ever play in the NBA again.....he is close to joining Steph Marbury in players who retired/quit to early land.Comment

Re: Guess who already sounds upset in Memphis
There is no longer any defense for Iverson's actions anymore. Sixers became a playoff team without him, Denver vastly improved by shipping him out, and all he's doing in Memphis is bitching and taking away key developmental minutes from their young backcourt without doing any 'mentoring' whatsoever. Granted, I'm not there to watch the practice and can't comment on how much teaching he's actually doing to the young guys, but considering his comments and attitude, I'm pretty sure it's slim to none. Why doesn't he just go to Europe or something? He could have the spotlight for about a month until they realize how far past his prime he is.
I'm not so sure there's a lot of mentoring going on.Comment

Re: Guess who already sounds upset in Memphis
The post I was responding to was about Chauncey Billups' decision making compared to Iversons, that was the thing I thought you would have gleaned from it... The 18 seconds thing was a bit of an exaggeration, as was the post I was responding to.
I used to like the guy, too.Comment

Re: Guess who already sounds upset in Memphis
I'm not defending Iverson's actions. I'm just agreeing with his motive and logic. The guy has a point.
Who knows? Maybe he wakes up and accepts the fact that he is a sixth man on a contender."Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."Comment
