    Iverson back where he belongs.

Old news, I know. But that's not why I'm making this thread.

I just want to praise Iverson for choosing to return to Philly. This has got to be the greatest thing for the NBA and the Sixers. Tickets sales were way down in Philly for years. Most fans upset with the team for getting rid of Iverson. Iverson is now back, and Sixers fans have never been more excited.

I may not be a Sixers fan (I'm a Hornets fan), but being near Philly, I have seen many Sixers games over Iverson 10 years there. He is by far the most entertaining player in the NBA. He has nothing but heart and love for the game, and all he wants to do is play and contribute. Unfortunately the Grizzlies were dumb enough to let such a talent warm up seats for guys who just want to get numbers (Mayo & Gay).

Now thanks to the Grizzlies, Iverson is back where he belongs and where he is appreciated. Philly knows what he could do, and still can do. Eventually he will be taking over games for the Sixers. Just give it some time.

From what I saw tonight, he's loving everything about being back with the Sixers. He made some good plays and setup teammates, the best play coming on an alley-hoop to Sammy Dalembert.

For those of you Iverson haters, I feel bad for you. This guy knows how to play, and has nothing but dedication on the court. He loves playing basketball and all this guy wants to do is win. It's very hard to find players in this league that want to "win" over "getting paid".

I'm really pleased at how this turned out for AI.

If he recognizes that he's got to better defensively in this current era, he'll certainly help that team.

I'm so happy Iverson didnt go out playing 3 games with Memphis he deserved a better ending and i'm thrilled he's getting it back where he belongs. This situation usually goes the other way with the legend fading into obscurity or bouncing around.

He never should've left Philadelphia to begin with. He deserved to retire a 6er and now he will (hopefully).
As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"

I have a feeling his career will last another 3 or 4 years in Philly. No other team wants him. Philly fans want him, and Philly needs him for ticket sales. And Iverson feels nothing but love from this city.

I'm really glad to see him back in Philly, It just feels right. I thought it was messed up how everyone tried to make Iverson out to be another Marbur. It was wrong, I'm totally rooting for him to have a great season.

              LMAO!

Seriously, it's bad enough AI is here now. But if dude is still here after the season, us REALISTIC & DIE HARD Sixer fans might as well not expect this franchise to progress in another ten years.

Outsiders (media, AI fans, etc.) don't have the slightest clue when it comes to this team.

Iverson retiring from the NBA would have been better for the NBA. He thinks he is the **** and refuses to play unless he starts. What happens when Lou comes and back and he outplays AI for the strating job?

                It's a ****ing cycle.

Re: Iverson back where he belongs.

the first post of this thread is pure fanboy stuff.
i will correct and refute in bold.

I just want to praise philly for desperately choosing to sign iverson with williams injured. This is a good short term thing for the NBA and the Sixers. Tickets sales were way down in Philly for years. Most fans upset with the team for getting rid of Iverson. Iverson is now back, and some Sixers fans have never been more excited.

I may not be a Sixers fan (I'm a Hornets fan), but being near Philly, I have seen many Sixers games over Iverson 10 years there. He is ONE of the most entertaining players in the NBA. He has heart and love for the game, and all he wants to do is still be the man. the Grizzlies were dumb enough to let such a player potentially squander the growth and playing time of talented young players like gay and mayo.

Now Iverson is back where he belongs and where he is appreciated. Philly knows what he could do, and still can do. hopefully he will be taking over games for the Sixers. Just give it some time when williams comes back and things may not be quite as rosy.

From what I saw tonight, he's loving everything about being back with the Sixers. He made some good plays and setup teammates, the best play coming on an alley-hoop to Sammy Dalembert. of course he does, he is employed again, and getting minutes thanks to the williams injury.

This guy knows how to play, and has nothing but dedication on the court. provided its his way on his terms, starting, with big minutes. He loves playing basketball and all this guy wants to do is be the man still. It's very hard to find players in this league that want to "win" and actually mean it over "getting paid and taking a lesser role for the benefit of the team. if winning was so important to him, why did he sign with the grizzlies?? why wouldnt he be satisfied with being a super 6th man for a contender?[/quote]

                    there a reality check.

He would have been a 6th man for a good team in a heart beat imo nogster, but the offers weren't there. They would have been there if he had a little more patience and didn't sign with philly (eg boston having serious talks about him), but hey what's done is done, he has roots in philly *shrug*

He's better than Willie Green and the 6ers were obviously not selling the fanbase with the roster the way it was. Last night was their first sellout of the year. Has there been young dudes to come into the league, and light the league on fire? Yes. Jrue wasn't though, he's going to need time. He doesn't come with any definite consistency to his game @ 19. There's no need to throw him to the wolves now.

Lou played in 30 games and avg'd 4.8 minutes his rookie year. That doubled his 2nd year, and by year 3 he had a role in the offense. The same progession should be used w/ Jrue. By which time Iverson will have hung them up, and Thad should've come into his own, Sammy is gone, Brand is better?, and Louis is lighting up the league.

                          What's your plan P2K?

Iverson's a local Hampton boy so he'll always have a special place with me, and after his ignoble stops in Detroit and Memphis, and his press conf. coming full circle. I think he earns, or should earn some respect. To admit your faults, and do it emotionally like that in front of a world audience...

I already said I could give a damn about selling games out.

And Jrue did a full year of college as a 6'4" 185 pounder with true point skills and a great defender. On top of that, he was a projected top 7 pick. Lou came right out of high school as a 6'1" 170 pound combo guard that couldn't defend at all. Sorry, but Jrue's learning curve says he can handle the league faster. And his play before his injury proved that to be right. He was handling his own out there. Jrue shut down Russell Westbrook. He couldn't drive into the lane. Start him.

Sixers should have never been signed AI. Waste of time and space. Find a way to rid of the big contracts somehow, get young and lose. Hopefully, a superstar comes down the pike and lands in our lap. It makes more sense than being terrible while still thinking you can compete like it is now.
