Reasoning? Because he was a jump shooting Center? That just means he doesn't KNOW what it takes to succeed in the post right? He just can't possibly have that knowledge right?

So people should only be able to teach folks things they have proven they can do/achieve?

Does this logic apply to everything else?

So should Lawrence Frank or Erik Spoelstra have the chance to coach a team?

I will wait for your explanation.....
    Concrete evidence/videos please

Just because he was a jump shooter doesn't mean he can teach big man fundamentals. He's worked with pretty much every big that has come through Gtown including Greg Monroe.

Kevin Mchale was a GM. Do you really think he's going to come back to be an assistant coach? Besides, I'm sure Dwight gets tutored in the off-season by a lot of different bigs.

Looking at both Yao and Dwight, I would venture to say that you can likely find better big men coaches out there right now than him thats why

Yao has always been more skilled than Dwight however. I just don't see Howard dominating the post with grace and elegance. He's more of a Shaq/Zo power player than anything....and I don't even think he has the touch of those guys.

His assets will be his understanding of the game and how to position himself to get closest to the basket as he can. Only a young Shaq and maybe Kemp was as explosive as Howard is around the rim.

That wasnt the point I was making. Yao lost alot of his footwork moves fooling around with Patrick Ewing. When the playoffs came he got owned because he lost all of that and had nothing to compensate for bad fadeaways in which both Okur and Kostas Koufos were both blocking it all back in his face.

Ewing had nothing for him, no adjustments, no other moves, nothing. Looks like he's not offering Howard very much either. Its not a coincidence.

Really not understanding why it's so hard to fathom.
              Because he's not.

                Outstanding argument.

                  Re: Dwight Howard

Howard would probably get my No. 2 ranking on an MVP ballot. Kevin Durant has been an amazing offensive talent, but Howard does so much for the No. 2 (record-wise) team in the league. Not only does he do the things mentioned, but Orlando is such a good 3-point shooting team because of Howard's presence inside.

I might be missing someone, but Howard is arguably second to only LeBron in making his teammates better.

Yao never played against Koufos in the playoffs. Funny how a guy gets hurt and people act like he wasn't a great player.

Who said he wasnt a good player?

Sorry about the Kofous comment.... but Memet absolutely owned the dude on defense stuffing multiple fadeaways back into his face...

And thats without even mentioning how Carlos Boozer basically treated him like a step son.

Im not on Yao, but Ewing offered little to nothing on this guys improvement, and same for Dwight
