I'd say he would be lucky if that is the only thing that happens.

His castle would get graffiti all over it, his family members would be harassed, and his friends would probably either disown him or get ridiculed by the city.

Should it happen, absolutely not. But it will.

People do drastic things when they lose their "messiah"

If it was anywhere but Cleveland where he played first, I don't think it would be as bad as it's going to be if he leaves, but...well, It's Cleveland.

It would be worse if he was leaving Detroit.

I'm surprised no one has resorted to tracking planes online yet - bunch of UK fans did this when UK was reportedly courting Billy Donovan in '07 and John Calipari in '09.

I would rather have Lebron and Dirk then LBJ/Bosh.

Yeah, Dirk isn't leaving Dallas. He's just getting a new deal under the current CBA. And Cleveland will never trade LeBron in a sign and trade, so LeBron and Dirk will never happen anytime soon.

I just want this to be over because I'm tired of so much specualtion...

As a Bulls fan, getting LeBron doesn't really matter to me. If we get him, awesome, if not, there are other options that make us a contender. For instance a Johnson/Boozer combo works or a Johnson/Stoudemire combo as well. Getting 'Bron would just be the icing on the cake.

I'm going to laugh when it turns out WWW is just a connection guy who knows everyone and not the shadowy back room figure that so many sportswriters want him to be.

Im just outside of Cleveland. If lebron goes elsewhere, no big deal. Do I like having Lebron? Absolutely. Does he bring excitement to the Cavs, absolutely. My issue is, if he doesnt want to be here, then I dont want him here. The cavs have never won a championship, and Lebron was raised here. He knows, or should know what a win means to Cleveland. If he would rather get paid more money, then become a hometown legend in the HISTORY BOOKS, then thats his choice. Theres a reason most of the absolute best legends out there are such huge legends....because they never sold out. They realized money was important, but that only to some extent. As Magic Johnson said a fews weeks ago, money only matters to a certain amount, there has to be a point where its about your legacy, fans, and things of that nature. Jordan was a bull, Bird was a Celtic, and even Kobe was a laker.

                            Personally,

Ive been in northeast ohio all my life. If I were a proffesional football or basketball player, Id rather have ONE CLEVELAND CHAMPIONSHIP, then 5 chicago's. I really dont think most people understand, but a NBA championship is something Cleveland hasnt had before.... The person who is the mvp of a Cavs championship, will be rememberd by northeast ohio forever. Frankly, I just dont see how it gets any better, then winning one for the home town you grew up in or around. It kinda sucks that todays players forget what its all about. Barry Sanders once said one reason he left the game, because it wasnt what it once was...and referenced money,etc...and the lack of passion for playing the game of football. I totally agree with this 100%. These atheletes seam to forget what this is all about, and NOTHING would beat winning one for the team you grew up wishing could win the big one. Thats just my opinion, I'm sure there are plenty that feel you can never have enough money, no matter how much you already have. To those people, I really do feel sorry for you.

I'm pretty sure winning ONE is what it's all about regardless of where you do it. Not everyone has the fortune to play for a team in their home state, playing sports is about winning and having fun. If LeBron wins and has fun wherever he decides to go, then he's done what sports is all about. Winning for the home team would be great, but it's not what it's all about.

Actually he'd be taking a paycut to go elsewhere.

Theres a reason most of the absolute best legends out there are such huge legends....because they never sold out.
                                That and they won.

Russell isn't a legend because he played for the Celtics, he's a legend because he won 11 chips (or something like that). Bird and Magic weren't legends because they stayed on one team, they're legends because they combined for 6 MVPs, 8 championships, and 14 Finals, all in a relatively small time window.

Shaq's legacy has somewhat diminished from team swapping, but that's because he's been more of an attention whore than anything else. Nobody hated on Shaq's legacy prior to 2007 even though he played for three teams. If Lebron goes to a place like Chicago, I'd see it being very close to Shaq's situation.

If I were a proffesional football or basketball player, Id rather have ONE CLEVELAND CHAMPIONSHIP, then 5 chicago's.
That doesn't really fit in with your previous statements.

Nobody will be a legend with one championship compared to a guy with five. Pierce won Boston their first ring after 20 years of irrelevance but he won't compare to Kobe's 5 rings for the Lakers.

These atheletes seam to forget what this is all about
It actually is all about money. It's their job.
