What about Kobe Bryant is he in the shadow of Magic Johnson? or the shadow of Jordan?

Actually, yes. It's all they spoke about for a couple of days after Kobe won his fifth ring.

Seriously? Do you think Kobe cares for a second?

Do you really think the "MJ's shadow" is a legitimate reason why James wouldn't go to Chicago? I respect your posts/ opinion so i am curious to see if you really give much weight to that line of thought?

If I have this correct the logic is that all these teams have had huge stars before in their history, Jordan is the biggest the Bulls have ever had so therefore we can never again have a huge iconic star because we the moronic people of Chicago wouldn't ever accept that person and make their lives a living hell by comparing how they didn't tie they're shoes like Jordan tied his, or gambled quite like him and of course the giant note pad that has 6 rings on the side of the Sears Tower that we would have built to remind them they won't be loved until we can change that to 7.

          I got that right didn't I?

It's not like Kobe chose to go to LA. The expectations grew as he was there, but they weren't there from the onset. LeBron's in a completely unique situation, it's really hard to make proper comparisons against anyone else.

I hope he does, we need the dominos to fall. I can still see the Bulls getting him and another top guy, or getting nobody at all. Nothing is gonna surprise me. Interesting the Bulls were the only team that didn't offer any interviews after their meeting. They had the longest meeting and we're last. Don't know if that means anything at all. If I had to bet I'm leaning towards Cleveland, but he could be a Net as well and I wouldn't be surprised at all.

Blowing things way out of proportion... they're making it sound like LeBron leaving Cleveland will be the equivalent of a nuke wiping the city off the map.

You're not seeing the comparison at all though.

KG would never be in Bird's shadow.

Plus KG was traded to Boston, he didn't sign with them as a free agent.

Plus Bird isn't considered the GOAT.

Only one shadow is big enough to sort of avoid, and that's MJ and at the same time, only LBJ could be effected by the "shadow of MJ". Wade/Bosh etc. are not on James' level in terms of building that kind of legacy.

It's almost like they don't consider any of their other teams worth mentioning. They have other teams that will continue to bring in revenue. Heck, they can breed another Lebron somehow. They will be okay. The man wants to look out for his family and their future. It might benefit them even better if he goes elsewhere and gives back with his bigger wallet. With all of those sports they have, I'm sure they won't hurt all that much.

                          Yup

Kobe isn't in the shady of Magic because LA has had Kobe, Magic, Shaq, Logo, Wilt, Kareem, etc.

Chicago had Jordan. No other team in sports has a Jordan. Some have had similarly amazing players, but no player who defines the team like Jordan. It's just different with Jordan.

That said, I don't think that will matter too much.

Wouldn't a MJ/LBJ co-op Nike campaign be worth billions? I don't know how much longer LBJ's nike contract is....buts its a situation where Nike could completely pull away from everyone but adidas on a world market.

It wouldn't be worth billions but it would make a ton of money.

Like literally a ton. 2,000 pounds of cash.

I dunno, according to Forbes, Jordan Brand is already a billion dollar business for Nike. Some sort of Jordan/LBJ brand mashup could do some serious business.
