Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
I think this whole getting two max guys thing is overrated. Who cares if you have two max players, but not enough talent to go at least eight deep?
Plus, Eddy Curry's contract isn't going to be enough to get them under the cap for a third max player next year. Sign and trade? Do the Knicks really have enough for a sign and trade next year? Way too many hypotheticals that really aren't that realistic.
Anyone who'd go to New York over Chicago is nuts. At least the Bulls have built something with draft picks and salary cap space. After more than eight years on here, I finally figured out how to edit my time zone!Comment

That's $14+ mil between Curry and Chandler's contracts. And then whatever vet minimum contracts that we also let go.
Whether we use that $14+ mil to somehow try to nab Melo, or get a few more solid players to add to the team, we're absolutely in a good position.
It looks like no matter what we'll have our "Big 3" this year. The sniper (Gallo,) The Big (STAT,) and The Slasher (whoever we get, be it Parker, James, Wade, Ellis, etc.) I'm not seeing how that's a bad situation...that and a few solid role players seems to be the formula for success.
$14 mil in guaranteed money to spend next year is huge. This isn't a "if we can trade Deng, or make some other moves" scenario. We absolutely, beyond the shadow of a doubt, have that money to spend via expiring contracts.
And with the new CBA looming do we actually know what the length and value of a max contract will be? Might be a little too early to say whether we definitely would or wouldn't have enough for another max contract under a CBA that we really don't know too much about. Only thing that I do know is we'd have a minimum amount of moves to make to get at least $14 mil under the cap, and we'd potentially have STAT and another quality player already in place.Comment

Can we ban the next person that posts that on here again?
OT: Which team is in the lead today as far as who will get Lebron? Is it New York's turn to be in the lead today since Chicago and New Jersey already had their turn?#RespectTheCultureComment

2nd part, the $11 million or whatever it is might not be enough for a max, but that's going to get you a good player, or a couple good players. I don't get it, first you say the max player thing isn't important because of lack of depth, now it is?
3rd part, we've been through this a ton of times in this thread already, but I still say it depends what moves the teams makeOriginally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
Best endings to this whole thing for me:
1. He resigns with Cleveland, plunging New York into a deep depression
2. He signs with the Grizzlies(or some other random team), doing the same as the first ending only adding Cleveland to the emo party.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

I think the city will settle for a well put together team with or without LeBron. I'm hearing a lot of enthusiasm from people around here with just the possibility of getting STAT.
I even have a buddy that's kicking himself now because he declined the invite to join in and get some season tickets with us and recited that old (and now false) tag line of "why? the Knicks aren't getting anyone." Fast forward a couple of weeks and it's "man did you already get those seats?....**** it's looks like we're getting Amar'e and maybe someone else!!"Comment

What makes you think NYC will go into a deep depression of we don't get LeBron? There are a handful of players out there that you can throw into D'Antoni's system along side Gallo and Amar'e to make you go "holy ****."

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
I'm exaggerating but with the Knicks getting rid of pretty much everyone but the kid who cleans the sweat from the floors to get Lebron and the Nets being horrible but with their fans hoping that they can get him and turn things around, there are going to be a lot of disappointed people if he doesn't sign with a New York team.
I want him to be on the Knicks as bad as the next guy, but if we get Amar'e, explore the sign and trades mentioned with the T'wolves and/or Warriors, and avoid losing Gallo...there's nothing to be devastated about. Especially if we have some $14 million to spend next year from Curry and Chandler's contracts.
If the Knicks are winning games next year without LeBron there will be some disappointment and people talking about "what coulda been" scenarios, but the main thing is the team is winning. And if the team is winning, there won't be any deep depression.
Edit: and we didn't get rid of everyone to get LeBron. We got rid of the bad contracts that Isiah burdened us with. HUGE difference. With those long term deals, and at the yearly salaries they were at, plus the player options to continue to rape the organization, we had no future...now we do. Despite all of the misconception by the media (not just the national, but also our own) going from one of the highest paid teams and paying the luxury tax for a team with zero all-stars and one 1st round exit in the playoffs in like 8 or 9 years, to having the most salary cap and $ to spend...is what this summer is all about.Last edited by nuckles2k2; 07-05-2010, 12:30 PM.Comment

But there's a difference between a casual fan who knows the big names that's disappointed because LeBron isn't in New York. Then there's the fan that wants the Knicks to put a good product on the court night in and night out, and also wants LeBron.
