Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread

So everyone in the media brings up playing in Jordan's shadow as a possible negative for LeBron considering coming to Chicago.

The Bulls address that idea head-on, daring LeBron to challenge Jordan's legacy (if you read the article, they also sent 7 empty championship ring boxes and a mock newspaper headline about him winning 7 titles with the Bulls) and it's a bad thing?

It's a ballsy move, and the only way it could blow up in their face is if he took it as an insult instead of a challenge...but I don't know how anyone could do that.

I think it's a good move on their end.

The first line, "You're a King, but can you live up to a legend?" I think could easily be taken as a slap in the face. Pretty much every player says they aren't MJ and don't want to be compared to MJ. Yet the Bulls are saying, "Can you be the next MJ and win 7 titles?" To me that's stupid.

I'm hoping he takes it as a joke.

I'm hoping he takes it as an insult and comes to the Knicks. No but seriously, there are only two ways he can take it. Either he says "Wow. I'll never be able to live up to that legacy" or "Wow. This is gonna be me one day." I don't know how he'll take it, but he's made it very clear that he doesn't think anyone will ever be as good as Michael Jordan. That's why he changed his number. He sees MJ as an unreachable mark. So personally, I think it'll really sit with him that this is what he'll be if it goes to the Bulls. The guy who wasn't as good as Michael as opposed to with Cleveland, or Jersey, or the Knicks, when they'll say this is the greatest player we've ever had. I hope when he signs wherever he does, someone asks him what he thought about it, cause I'd like to know how it plays out in his mind.

I guess I can see what you're saying, but I still don't see it as a slap in the face or anything. All the players say they don't want to be compared to MJ, but we can all see how much it goes on in the media; so you can imagine that there's at least one person in LeBron's camp that may bring it up at some point to him because of his status right now.

I see it as nothing more than to break down that idea by bringing it up themselves. If they said nothing, then those thoughts can still linger...this way, they appeal to his competitive side to come and be just as big a star here.

Jordan's legacy is the 800-pound gorilla in the room, they had to address it somehow.

I don't think the Bulls sent that. It says that it's a Chicago based marketing company that sent it, not the Bulls.

As for the package. I don't see why you would send this and basically reinforce the main talking point people nationally have been talking about with this Jordan's Shadow thing. Further, this paints Chicago fans as if we really are setting up our LeBron posters next to our Jordan posters, with a write in box under LeBron's name to keep a count to how many rings he's got compared to GOAT. Chicago really would just be happy to see another Bulls championship just as they would to see another Bears championship. If LeBron wins just one title here he'd be golden so I don't see why you go with this one.

Lol at all this conjecture about whether that package was a good thing or a bad thing. It was probably opened by one of his security guards who put the shoes on ebay and threw the rest in the rubbish without LeBron even seeing it.

It's really getting to the point where it's useless trying to follow what's going on through the media because every tom dick and harry is spouting rubbish to try to get their 15 mins of fame and probably less that 0.00001% of the stuff being said isn't even remotely true.

That's why I am saving my opinion for after this is all said and done. It seems like every 5 mins, a new report comes out about a different team and all this other ****. Now it seems like the Bulls are targeting Wade and not LeBron. So it's getting kind of confusing. Just gotta let it all play out and not believe everything you read on ESPN.

I am now leaning toward LBJ returning to CLE as the only reason for him to bolt them is if he can play along DWade or CBosh ... and it is more likely that those 2 end up together ... then the only way he is bolting CLE is if NY gets to get Amare and deals for Parker and by some miracle have enough room to sign him to a max, if not, I dont see him leaving for a talented but rebuilding team like NJ or for a playoffs team such as CHI (CLE went there, so they are basicly at the same level, but with the advantage on the hometown crew).

And what difference does it make who's won anyway. Teams are trying to sign people who will win in the future, not in the past. Dwyane Wade isn't sharing his ring with Derrick Rose, they're trying to get a brand new one.

Alot of posturing and fear going around the league.

The Nets are the weak little brother trying their best to come up but they're slinging dirt when the Knicks aren't even paying their still across the "west side" river (not east) counterparts any mind.

The billboard isn't going to convert any Knicks fans to Nets fans. Only winning will. And that being said...the Nets are still the worst team in the league until October.
And the Knicks are/have still been the worst team over the last decade.

As for trying to get the Knicks attention, I think it was established already once that punk *** Dolan called Jay-Z(of all people really lol)bitching about a damn billboard and then bitching to Stern about it.

But that's ok, we'll continue to be the "little brother" over here so don't mind us.
