I still wonder what the hell is going to happen in this hour. Is LBJ going to be sitting at the table where Noah strolls in and sits down. After that is LBJ going to pretend to sign a contract, stand up, shake Noah's hand and clothesline him? Followed by Amare, Gallo popping out and helping LBJ stomp on Noah and spray paint nWo on his back?

Lebron has had ESPN riding his jock ever since he was like 15 or 16. I too would like him to mature.Comment

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
Makes sense. One thing I have to question, however, is how selfish is he really? People were saying for years that Kobe was selfish, but now suddenly all is forgiven. There have been stories for years that MJ is arrogant, but noone talks about it. I think his selfish image will be shed as soon as he wins a ring because that's just what he needs to do for respect. It seems like when you're arrogant and losing, then it's a distraction. But when you're arrogant and winning, you have a killer instinct, and when you talk about your teammates then it's because you want to get better. I don't know. I guess I just believe that winning cures everything. And I hope that is the case with LeBron as well, whether it's in NY, or Cleveland, or with the Clippers for that matter. I would love for him to be a Knick, but I don't want him to be a Knick that doesn't win. I'd rather him win elsewhere, than lose here. If that makes sense.
I can't get down with this. It's a personal thing. Different things bother different people, and that one doesn't fly with me.
Lebron is an attention whore and I don't identify. I don't think it's the worst thing in the world, but it's not a flaw that resonates with me. And to be fair he had some serious disadvantages in that area as far as growing up. People started worshipping him very early on, and he didn't have a whole lot of people instilling any kind of humility in him.
It's really just balance. When he balances out his flaws with a bit of sacrifice, I'll enjoy watching him more. It's also a basketball thing. Sometimes his game degenerates into running into people and hoping for a call. I recognize that some guys are so talented that they can just blow by people, but I'm personally more entertained by the skill game/mind game. I'm in the minority that my favorite Jordan was when he was over 32 years old, and just possessing people with Jedi Mind Tricks. (that's two Star Wars references today)Comment

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
First and foremost, I want the Knicks to be contenders. I don't care if Charles Smith comes out of retirement and leads us to the Finals. If that's what it takes, fine. I'd prefer Charles Smith be banned from the city forever, but winning is more important than grudges.
Lebron isn't my favorite player in the league, to be candid. I think he's too self entitled, and I'd rather not see my city feeding into that. Sure, there are plenty of arrogant athletes, but I think we can all agree that this guy is like the Jedi Master of Athletic Arrogance. People think that because he's a good passer, he's unselfish. ::Charlie Murphy voice:: Wrong! Wrong!
He's very self absorbed, and I don't think it all ties back into winning. I think he wants to win. I even think he wants to win badly, but I think the game came too easily for him to really understand the sacrifices necessary to beat other grown men that are near his talent level and win a championship. It's always a tragedy in sports when young men's talent is so incredible that they win before they learn. At this point in his career, 7 years, no rings and still trying to pull the title of bestest most importantest player from a stubborn, dusty Kobe Bryant, the seeds of learning have been planted, and that makes it a little better.
That having been said, he's not the worst person in the world. He didn't scoff at a fellow player's injury, run screaming from Jared Jeffries during a fight, or sleep with his teammate's mother. He does care about kids and charities and enjoying the game with his teammates. I even like his ambition. I like that this athletically gifted poor kid from a small city has set out to conquer Earth. I honestly think that's cool.
But I need him to grow the **** up before I can enjoy it.Redskins, Lakers, Orioles, UNC Basketball , and ND Football

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
I should add that this is all compounded by the fact that Lebron is not a guaranteed championship. Jordan was a LOCK for a chip when he was competing. He didn't just win championships, he was barely challenged most of the time, and individually there was no player even close to him, not just statistically, but also as a dominant winner.
Lebron is great, no doubt, but he hasn't won anything, and he's not guaranteed to win anything. There are players in the league--Kobe, Wade, Durant--that are around his skill level. You can debate how above or below based on your biases, but the bottom line is he is not head and shoulders above his peers, so getting Lebron is truly only the beginning. Even with a good team, it's not a guarantee. People bemoan his current roster, but he's got a hustle guy, a 3pt threat, a guard that averaged 17+ppg before going to the team and a forward that averaged 20 and 10 RIGHT before joining his squad.
Still they lost. Because Lebron sucks? No. Not completely his fault. It's partially because Boston and Orlando have a lot of talent, and Lebron is not so great of an individual that there is any wiggle room for messing around when playing those guys.
So all of this bowing and scraping is a little confusing to me, outside of Cleveland. I understand doing that if he really was "the King", but he's just one great player among other great players in an era that has benefitted from some very good drafts since 96.Comment

Based on the quote he gave he should just have picked any team. They all play basketball and that's all he needs.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it
