Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
Ehh the Bulls are going to add atleast 1-2 pieces other the LBJ.
Most likely scenario is if the Bulls do land Lebron it will happen in a sign and trade with Cleveland.
Where Deng and Kirk maybe Taj or James Johnson head to cleveland - freeing up another move for the Bulls.
Cle can't let LBJ walk and get nothing for him.
If Lebron leaves or plans to leave, the love is gone for him in Cleveland.Comment

RealGM article on why New York or Cleveland is a better fit for LeBron than Chicago: http://knicks.realgm.com/articles/53...ally_good_in_n
Also, I was just thinking...since the Knicks currently have enough to sign two max free agents, is it possible that they could sign LeBron and another max player, AND re-sign David Lee (bird rights) and trade him for Bosh? Or sign LeBron, fill out the roster, re-sign Lee and trade him for Bosh?

And I have the same concerns about LeBron and Rose meshing...especially since neither has a very good jumper, although both are improved.Too Old To Game Club

Yao
Bosh
Ariza
Martin
Brooks
With Scola, Lowry, Budinger, Hayes, a MLE player, and a rookie off the bench is a great team for Bosh and can absolutely compete. This team actually matches up quite well with the Lakers. This team has the best chance to upset the Lakers in the West and go to the finals IMO.
The problem is convincing Bosh that it's the best option for him. I have no idea where we stand on his "short list" but I guess it's Morey's job to convince him that Houston would be in his best interests. It'll be an interesting off-season.Comment

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
it's not about marketing/advertising, it's about businesses. Businesses negotiations often involve very few people in the room. In New York, you're talking about old money, and a few people controlling that old money. Those people won't open their pockets and/or real estate for Lebron unless he's able to attach New York to his brand and vice versa. They trust his celebrity, but likely have a list of things they'd like him to be able to do, and some things on that list require New York to be a part of his brand.
Also, if he's in New York, he doesn't have to worry about a competing brand. Hypothetically, if Dwyane Wade wanted to be a New York based fashion mogul and Lebron wanted the same thing, and Wade signed with the Knicks, what do you think would happen to Lebron's opportunities in New York?
This isn't about simple exposure and popularity. It has to do with branding, which is an unforgiving concept.
There's a lot of factors we can get into, including the increase of teleconferencing ESPECIALLY in NY, outsourcing, the availability of world wide transportation for the type of money the people we're talking about have. In today's world, there is pretty much no reason someone who already has the fame that Lebron has needs to be in NYC to maximize it.
Jesus man, it's a plain sentence. Not even any SAT words in it. I don't know what's so hard to comprehend. You can't see the potential extra earnings - good for you, that's your opinion. I'm pretty sure you're not an expert on New York's economy vs other cities and how it affects megastar athletes especially since you haven't stated a single fact regarding the matter.
I'm not I'm not saying he can earn more in NYC, I'm not saying he can't because no one knows yet. Yet you seem hell bent on forcing everyone to agree that he absolutely cannot earn more $ off the court in NYC when you do nothing more than cite vague examples that are merely an opinion.
There was already and article debating this, where experts weighed in. The opinions varied, from one person feeling LeBron could earn $20m more per year. One guy used the "digital age" angle and said it doesn't matter where LeBron plays. Point is, those guys, who know way the hell more about this stuff than you, are conflicted on the issue.
In your example of one article (with no link... ironic since you're so upset that I haven't given you examples) you state that someone brought up the digital age, and then brush by it. That's hilarious. The bottom line is, nobody knows anything but this thread is growing every minute with opinions and educated guesses. And by the educated guess of me, others here and the guy you yourself said knows "way the hell more about this stuff" than me (though it is interesting hearing you tell me what I know about business), in today's world someone who is already an international superstar living in Cleveland does not need to live in NY to maximize their possibilities.Last edited by wwharton; 05-17-2010, 02:50 PM.Comment

I don't know if it's been discussed yet, but on that LeBron tracker, theres an article about why the Clippers are the perfect fit for Lebron, and it actually makes a lot of sense lol.
Having said that, there's no chance he ends up going there.Last edited by Yeah...THAT Guy; 05-17-2010, 03:42 PM.NFL: Bills

I'm surprised LBJ's ego isn't the size of Brazil. Having this much coverage dedicated to me (even getting the President to comment) would eventually lead to me becoming a jackassComment
