    Re: The LeBron James Thread

I don't get what you're arguing then Pack. LeBron is where he is right now in all this primarly because of the social media era we live in. This era is also why winning a ring isn't going to do anything for him. Will he get a little more love than he's getting now? Sure, the media will be a little kinder to him, but he's crossed over a line that there's no going back over. As big a douche Kobe is, as big a douche Michael is they don't have any lasting images or video of douchebaggery that will be emblazened into the publics' minds quite like the image of LeBron's jerseys being burned in Cleveland. The image of the giant LeBron banner in downtown Cleveland coming down like it's a damn foreign dictator statue or something. The image of he and his boys flexing and posing right before 'not one, not two...' The images of the coughing in the Finals.

People know that Kobe is douche. They kinda know that Michael is a douche. Do they have that smoking gun of douche during the development of those guys' brand/legacy though? Can you think of a moment during the development of those two where they just flat out let you know personally 'Yes, I'm a douchebag' like LeBron and 'I spoil people with my play' or 'At the end of the day, I'm rich, I'm LeBron James and y'all have to wake up to your same broke, non-LeBron lives.' Not to mention the fact that people are just angrier nowadays due to the economic state of the country which was something else that helped Jordan. Obviously this is all speculation and LeBron could eventually win people back, I just don't think it's ever going to happen and he (if it wasn't his choice) allowed people to **** him over big time in the end. He has to win a minium of three rings and they have to be back-to-back-to-back for it to have been worth flushing what he could've been winning just ONE in Cleveland.

      Re: The LeBron James Thread

Wwharton, you do realize that I never said all of his haters would go away even after he won right? Hell, I've said that PLENTY of times throughout this single thread.

I'll quote my original post again:

If Lebron wins one ring and does it where he actually shows up for a full 4 quarters and not 3 like he did last year, outside of "The Decision" people will start to look over the other nonsense he brought on himself over time.
Heavy emphasis on the bolded words.

Which goes back to my original point: If you(continue to) win, most people will ignore/over look the "other" stuff. They won't go away completely(because that NEVER happens)but THOSE people will not be as loud as they were while you were losing.

I think it's a combination of semantics and me not explaining my point well enough in regards to your post. In short, my point is I don't think a ring will make people look pass the other nonsense unless the nonsense stops.

So, I'm not sure if you mean if it stops AND he wins a ring (which I would agree with) or if he wins a ring and continues acting like he's acted to this point (some think this is true and I don't). Being overly technical, I don't think winning a ring is enough, he needs to allow for the time you're talking about by showing humility and keeping quiet. And honestly, I think it'd take a while but I don't even think he needs a ring if he can do that.

There's just too much to be loud about for a ring (with Wade and Bosh) to derail this train without help from him growing as a person too... and then it'll still take time to prove it.

RingS will definitely help him in at least silencing a majority of it.

But getting A ring would be a good start towards that.

I dont even know about that, tbh.

Ring 1: "Zomg he never would have done it without D-Wade"
Ring 2: "Zomg the Lakers played TERRIBLE, handed the series right to them"
Ring 3: "Zomg those refs suck ballz giving Lebron all dem bad callzzzzzzz"
Ring 4: "Zomg Chris Bosh is the only reason they won!!!"

Yeah and gotta start somewhere. I'm still in the camp that hopes the Heat never win a ring with those 3 together. But I don't hate Lebron, I just want him to be humbled enough to grow up and start taking his career as seriously as he claims (global icon). I'd rather see him have Paul Pierce's path to a ring at this point. Break up the Heat after 3 years of failed attempts to win, have LBJ go somewhere else and eventually get a well earned championship.

I'd love if he won while Dwyane Wade is on the decline/retired.

Like what you said about the maturity part.

I just want him to shut up and play.

You could've just said you were trying to compare Lebron to Jordan instead of posting a picture you seen on Facebook, you know that right? LOL

Id say he is more of a failure because he could not win a ring as the guy and had to join 2 all stars, but to each their own I guess. Both of their situations were completely different.

What star player has ever won a championship without another star player beside them?

You remember Jordan had Scottie Pippen, right?

Yeah, I know. And it rarely happens, but we saw last season a team with one star player beat a team with 3. And didnt Hakim win two rings, with nothing more than role players around him? I didnt see any of those guys looking for ways to leave their team when things got tough, but thats what Lebron did. Thats why people considered him a failure right now IMO.

Thats the bad thing about todays NBA star player, the majority of them are trying to team up to make super teams, what ever happened to drafting the right way lol. Look at how it helped the Spurs, and look at how it is helping the Thunder.

                              (Waits for spurned Cavs comment)
