Pippen was drafted by the Sonics and traded to the Bulls

Your using this type of logic? That means Lebron must of had help as well, despite what others were saying. Z, Shaq, Jamison, Mo, Ben Wallace and Wally were all star players at one point in their career.

By that definition, Lebron had the help needed to win? Come on now. I agree it takes more than one player to win a championship, it does take a team. But every team has a leader and a guy they can go to in the clutch, and Dirk was that for them throughout the playoffs.

Im not saying LeBron had help, I was specifically talking about Dirk

LeBron wasn't going to win a ring with a bunch of washed up players... former all star doesn't = washed up at the end of your career

Kidd was still one of the best PG's in the league and Marion still one of the best defensive wings...among other things Dirk had on his squad

I know you didnt, but this thread is about Lebron, so I tried to keep on topic some what lol. What I meant by it was the logic of them being former all stars doesnt mean that a player had help.

They were FORMER all stars, while Dirk is an all star and one of the best players at his position. That is what Im getting at. Kidd and Marion meant a lot to their championship run, but they dont win without Dirk playing the way he did.

Kidd was a good PG, but not one of the best in the league. Marion is great defensively, but Chandler and Stevenson were just as important on defense for them during their championship run and neither of them were all stars.

Mo and Jamison were washed up? Id considered Mo right now is still in his prime, while Jamison was still productive(still is now). Shaq washed up, but still produced. Ben Wallace was a big for us when healthy, he helped sure up most of the weaknesses we had inside and our overall defense. Wally was of no help IMO.

Well, when a thread reaches 548 freakin' pages, it's hard for it not to be.

We really need to stop being so memorized by labels and actually look and production and match-ups. Dirk played phenomenally well in the clutch to be sure but the contributions he got from his teammates on both sides of the ball were huge. Not to mention those great offensive sets they ran. Antwan Jamison and Mo Williams? When you're matched up against a quality team running the type of offense Mike Brown ran those two guys aren't going to scare anybody. That Celtics series exposed everything there was to expose about those LBJ Cavs. Your team isn't going to win anything of substance when you only have one player on the entire roster that cause a mismatch. Thats exactly the situation that the Cavs were in during that series. LBJ's play in the clutch (which is mostly apocryphal the way most people tell the story) wouldn't have made any difference. The talent wasn't good enough, bottom line.

The Heat getting smashed the way they were by Dallas is really on the only playoff failure I think can be fairly place on his lone shoulders. He had the better team and because he never took the time improve certain areas of his game the Mavs were able to use a defense that had no business being so successful.

Ok? He said Hakeem won 2 championships with only role players around him. Drexler was a big part of the team during that 95 championship run. Who cares if he was only there for half the season.
