Re: The LeBron James Thread
As much as I hear that he dominates the ball, not allowing his teammates to get comfortable, surrounded by immobile shooters, I would think more would be on board with switching up how he wants to play, especially surrounded by this much youth...
I'm not sure how successful they will be, or if hes fully committed to switching up his style of play, especially when things get tough....but this seems to be what a lot of the critics of his game were looking for. .

Re: The LeBron James Thread
They were middle of the pack last year, so yeah I bet it does go up some this year. Last season they were near the bottom % wise, but the differences is so small that even if they were last it's basically the same as being top 5.
Example being, GS led the league in 3% last season they averages 11/29 for 39%. The Lakers were 10/29 for 38% finishing 29th. They are only one make/miss away from what GS shoots now with 3 rookies, a 20 year old, and 24 year old being the primary shooters. Those numbers should get better just from natural progression, not even factoring in added play-makers.
Interesting. I didn't know it was that close. Now it's obvious the Warriors don't need much daylight to pull up for three and make em at this clip.Comment

The LeBron James Thread
I love how I been getting called a ***** and don’t know what I’m talking about and getting 5 paragraph essays thrown at me for “trying to pin things on LeBron” for saying that LeBron needs to change the way that he plays and going with an approach more like what the Lakers plan currently is without any hesitation. Now all of a sudden he signs with the Lakers and has worked with Magic on a plan to do exactly as I’ve been saying for years and it’s all good. It’s genius. It’s the right thing to do.
For the record nobody is saying surround him with shooters and play like Cleveland did. Just pointing out that one or two more reliable shooters is probably the happy balance between the plan they want in LA and what worked in Cleveland. Particularly because LeBron tends to always revert back to the way he’s played ball for 15-16 years now. But it’s whatever

More like your ****ting on LeBron for playing the way he does. It legit doesn't make sense because he has 3 rings and has gone to 27 NBA finals in a row now. No other TEAM can say that. Every metric you can pull up shows LeBron making the team better. What he does on the floor simply works. And again, if it wasn't for Golden State Monstars, this wouldn't even be a discussion. Don't forget he's had to play them 4 frecken years in a row! So yes. You've been right "all these years" in saying that what he does isn't effective... against the Warriors.
The fact of the matter is LeBron has largely played his entire career with non creative coaches and even less creative players. So "let other guys do stuff" is simply a bad strategy when you have a guy who can get you a good shot 92.5% of the time. So yes, on those teams that's usually what it ended up "reverting back to". Because again, it's much better than any other option and it's not even remotely close. Although maybe more Boobie Gibson/Big Z two man offense would have taken the defense by surprise? Who knows? 🤷🏾*♂️

Im pretty sure no one was ****ting on "your" idea for roster construction.

And no his style of play doesn't just boil down to not working against Golden State. He's 3-6 in the Finals, all 6 of those losses didn't come against GS and he was a boxout away from being 2-7. As for Boobie and Big Z, we really gonna pretend like that's the only caliber of player LeBron has played with? Really? If that's how we're going to do this discussion then there's no point in having it.Comment

The LeBron James Thread
The way LeBron played in Cleveland the first go around, and then with Miami, and then with Cleveland with Kyrie, and this year without Kyrie, weren’t even all the same “style” of play. And I can’t believe people on OS who watch as much basketball as they do could actually come to that conclusion and be serious. So to say he can’t switch his game up and adapt or that he can only win one way is utter bull**** and we have 15 season of evidence to back that, and statistics don’t even back up that he “pounds all the air out of the ball and that’s why he teammates don’t play well”... he only reverts to that when he actually needs to and when they need him to and when they are trying to control the pace. We saw so much of that in this years playoffs because without Kyrie they couldn’t score the ****ing ball, if they weren’t controlling the tempo teams like Indiana were busting their asses because LeBron was the only player on the floor who could play at that pace because Hood and Clarkson weren’t performing in the postseason. They had to slow the pace.
There is a reason the Cavs were the slowest pace team in this years playoffs despite T-Lue wanting to get them to be a more uptempo team the past two season. Despite them adding young athletic players to achieve that goal this season. It’s because they HAD to be. Made it all the way to the finals as the slowest pace team, despite being a 4 seed and ranked one of the worst defensive teams in the league. LeBron being able to always be the best player on the floor despite who’s on the floor with him, who’s coaching him, if he’s dominating the ball, playing without the ball, playing in the post, playing in the high post, playing fast, playing slow, is the reason he is who he is. It’s why there is nobody like him and arguably never has been.
The narrative draw up for how LeBron plays and approaches the game is FAR different from what he actually does on the court. Numbers back it, testaments from teammates and coaches back it, hell just watching a game backs it.

Re: The LeBron James Thread
lebron can play 1 through 5, inside or out. he can play off the ball but he SHOULDNT. hes arguably the best passer since what.. steve nash if not better? he plays the way his team needs him to play...and last year that meant dribbling for 18 seconds almost every possession because honestly he was playing with a bunch of bums outside of 2 or 3 guys and kevin love cant stay healthy
im with OJ.
that being said...i think lebron needs to post up much more in LA, and i thought he should have done it much more last year.Comment
