He hasn't even been scheduled for an interview and probably never will, thank god.
It's looking more likely that Avery Johnson will be the next HC(as of right now)but I can all but guarantee that Mike Brown will not be the HC here.#RespectTheCultureComment

Responding to both wwharton and OSU since they made similar points,
1. As far as loyalty from the fans, weren't the Cavs/Lebron getting booed off their own court in the playoffs? Wasn't Lebron getting destroyed in the media during the Celtics series? He certainly had a longer leash than he would get in New York, but I don't see that free pass still being there. Also, I don't think the thought of how he would be treated if he never won a championship is going through his mind, but I think he would still be loved in New York. Patrick Ewing, was criticized heavily through most of his career, but when he left/retired, he was a beloved figure. Don Mattingly is still one of the most popular Yankees, despite not winning a championship.
2. Many argue that New York is a basketball city more than baseball. Knicks just haven't been good in so long. I think New York is just more about who's good at the time. In the 80's it was all about the Mets. 90's the Knicks, since then the Yankees. I think if he comes to New York, he's instantly the biggest star there, ahead of Jeter, ahead of A-Rod. He's not getting overshadowed, especially since the Yankees just won, and the Knicks have been terrible.
3. As far as Dolan, I admit he's a guy we hold our breath with and hope he doesn't do anything stupid, but the last few years he has completely stayed out of the way. I don't really see him as a big part of the process. We will see on the Nets owner, supposedly his track record is he puts the experts in charge and gives them his full support. We'll see.
4. And with talent, well first of all if the Cavs are able to get Bosh, or another star, that changes things. I just don't really see that happening.
To me, the Cavs didn't seem like a team that was just missing a couple role players, or a couple of tweaks away. It seemed like the problem was they had to many role players and not another star to take the pressure off of Lebron. And they don't have the flexibility to do that imo. I do think a better coach could win a title with that team, but I'm not sure who's available that would get them to that level, and I'm not sure they can convince Lebron of that. As far as other teams, if the Bulls added Bosh, which I don't think they'll be able to do either, but if they did they would be better than the Cavs imo. Nets probably can't be better than the Cavs next year, but they could have Lebron, Lopez, maybe another free agent like Lee, and a lot of good young players. They would be set up for years and Lebron has said its about winning multiple championships. Knicks could get Lebron and Bosh. Just how good they would be next year depends on what they get for Curry's contract, but at the very least they'll have a good core. I think all the other teams will have a tough time getting a better team next year than Lebron would have if he stays, but they could all come close, and all could be setup better for the years to come.Originally posted by Jay BilasComment

LeBron wasn't getting destroyed in the Cleveland media, maybe by the fans on the talk shows that he quit...but every fan base in the NBA would have done the same thing...because he did quit. And they weren't booing LeBron off the court, they booed the TEAM off the court.
LeBron does things, like demand the ball for 24 seconds, that other cities would have been crawling up his *** about for years that Cleveland fans ignored and blamed Mike Brown instead.
To some still, LeBron will never be criticized by a large, large majority in the Cleveland area if he were to play with the Cavaliers for fear that he would leave. I cannot really explain it to you, but some people really think that if they boo, LeBron leaves.
As for the talent thing, I think they'll find someway to upgrade the roster this offseason. They always have found a way to do it, even if it means just picking up a terrible contract.Too Old To Game Club

I'd like to point out for the record that Chicago is not a Cubs town. Chicago is a Bears town more than anything with the Blackhawks probably coming after that though Bill Wirtz kind of cost the Blackhawks that honor by running the franchise into the ground. Anyway if LeBron James was with the Bulls he would not be outshined by any team in this city just as Michael wouldn't have been if any of the teams were great during his time. Hell the Blackhawks were in the Stanley Cup Final in 92 and Jordan and the Bulls were the talk of the town. When Jordan was here Chicago was all about the Bulls, if LeBron is here there is no team getting more press than that team.Comment

I voted Miami. I could just see Wade and LeBron on the same team. You can't underestimate Pat Riley at all. Plus, it's possible for Miami to sign LeBron or Bosh and then do a sign and trade for the other. It's also clear Miami wants to get rid of Beasley, which isn't a terrible consultation prize if LeBron or Bosh said they want to leave but would participate in a sign and trade.
I think Cleveland still has a really good shot to keep him, but I want to see him leave.
I really think it'll come down to Cleveland, Miami, Chicago or New York.
Cleveland is going to need to make some changes to keep LeBron though. Mo, LeBron, Jamison and Shaq are not going to win a ring as long as Boston and LA still have their squads.
Chicago could do the same thing as Miami though, and probably have more trade pieces - although I'd say a Wade - LeBron combo is going to be more dangerous than a Rose - LeBron - Noah combo.
And then there is New York. It's New York, 'nuff said. LeBron wants to be a billionaire, New York would open up so many doors to be a global icon.Comment

One thing that strikes me is there are a lot of fans who are just for their one team. They don't root for all the city teams just because it's in their city. Maybe having two baseball and two football teams has something to do with that.After more than eight years on here, I finally figured out how to edit my time zone!Comment

Basically what ehh said.
The media is only going to keep pumping the Yankees because they win and their payroll (rightly so of course).
But NYC is live and die basketball.
MSG sells out every night even with the bottom dwellers of the league.
When the Knicks were perenially in the playoffs..this place was a zoo.
Knicks fans want it more than Yanks and Giants fans because they haven't seen success since the 70s.
Hard to explain but when the Knicks are even close to winning...there's a totally different energy out here.Comment

For some reason I notice alot of people who like the Giants also like the Rangers.

Yup, when the Yankees blew (going back a long time now thankfully) The Stadium was empty. Shea was often a joke. The Knicks have been a disgrace for nearly a decade and MSG still sells out.
