He was a free agent who left, like hundreds of other free agents before him. He didn't lie or betray anyone. Teams get to cut and trade whoever they want but somehow the players are always treated horribly when they decide that they want to leave.

LOL.... The more they played that LeBron pulling off ihs jersey after the last Celtics game, one name kept going through my mind: Corey Dillon. LeBron took his ball and went home becuase he couldn't win and thought that he had battled in vain. CD got a ring, but will never be thought of like an Emmit or any toher great RB, even though he had beastly stats on some pathetic Bengals teams. I do really wish LBJ success, but think that the problem with him lies above the shoulders. The chance to prove how great you are is when times get hard. The only challenge he set for himself is the willingness to take criticism to pursue his dreams. Personally, he's got a pretty weak character as opposed to the true legends of the game. LBJ=Corey Dillion, in my book..... At least he's got self-love down....

Pretty sure Gilbert was going off emotion at the time when he said that. Wouldn't be surprised to see him issue another state later on saying how words may have been a too harsh or whatever.

On ESPN, they said he is going to have a news conference later this afternoon. I am pretty sure it will be an apologetic tone, but we can always hope right?

It's not completely different. He went on tv to announce where he was going, he didn't go up there and say "I hate Cleveland and that's why I'm leaving". Cleveland fans and people who already didn't like him took it personal when it really wasn't.

He didn't lie or anything, but he certainly showed a lack of class to say the least.

Not returning Gilbert's calls, he also let the Knicks know of his decision but not the Cavs before the one hour event.

The one hour event just to announce his team is something I don't think the NBA or sports has ever seen.

Completely pointless and is basically like middle finger to Cleveland fans.

He has no responsibility to tell Gilbert anything. I guess he just doesn't like him but either way, you can't call him an immature brat but applaud Gilbert for talking **** about Lebron only after he left. He allowed him to do all of this without saying a word, went to his house to beg him to stay with the Cavs, and once he didn't get what he wanted he decided to whine and talk about the virtues of loyalty.

LBJ doing his usual display of no class, leading to Gilbert being a complete tool himself.

They're both tools but LBJ handled the entire process in a questionable way, and his actions led to Gilbert's toolish reaction.

I think it's pretty clear that LBJ and the Cavs organization didn't have the sort of relationship everyone thought they had.

The city may think they did, but I think the way both handled everything is very telling.
