    Everyone hates athletes man...It's sports.

You hate Favre more than anyone on this board. No biggie. A lot of people hate LeBron for the same reasons that Favre is hated. Media whoring, etc.

Why does that make him a villain though, exactly? He's still at least the second best player in the league and apparently recognizes that he's not the guy who can carry a team to a title. No shame in that.

I seriously chalk most of the negative to simple immaturity. The guy is 25 and has had his ego spoon fed since he was a kid, pretty much. So all of the milking of his decision and the on-air announcement, etc can be chalked up to immaturity (ego should be a given with nearly every great athlete...immaturity is what makes it annoying). Even not contacting the owner prior (if true) is the act of a kid more than a villain. And to be honest, if the owner is reacting the way he is, I can kind of understand why someone would avoid telling him anything...lol.

Aside from immaturity though, he's helped raise money for a noble charity, decided to take a pay cut to win and play with 3 of his closest basketball friends, etc. I'm not saying that to make him seem like a good guy or anything...just finding all the hate laughable. I get Cleveland fans being disappointed, even pissed off, but everyone else droning about legacy and how they're ashamed/angry/whatever is off-the-wall to me.

So what? The free agency period means that players can go to where they want to go. There isn't some noble cause to it that they subverted by going to the same team.

Then declare it on Thursday. Don't make it into a circus. Don't media leech. Don't waste other team's time.

As Vince mentioned, you hate Favre for similar reasons that are happening here.

Fair enough. I believe that you may be right. Maybe we just made him out to be more than he really was. But it's funny, nobody has really shot down the comments about his selfishness. Except the folks that think that "being your own man" and "looking out for yourself" is cool. Sorry, not built like that or live my life that way. So it'll just be an "agree to disagree" kind of thing......

P.S. We didn't invent the "Mr. Team" "I love my hometown, Akron/Cleveland" and all. He did that. Who is the real hypocrite? Not saying that at you, just saying....

Re: LeBron James Signs With Miami Heat

Would this sum up a lot of people's feelings right?

When you have players in the same argument of the caliber of Lebron and Wade it used to be like this:

Past: Yeah we're friends but I love competing against him and seeing who is better. On the court I want to rip his heart out and win to see who is the best.

Now: Yeah we're friends and relative equals. But you know what it doesn't really matter to me who is better we just like the attention we could get because if we compete against each other it will hurt someone's feelings in the end and not get us more attention.

I might edit this if I think of a better way to say the above.

Let's not pick nits. Jordan was the man on the bulls, Kobe is the man on the Lakers, Hakeem was the man on the Rockets, etc. That's what I'm talking about. Nobody single-handedly does anything, I agree. The point is Lebron decided he couldn't be or didn't want to be "the guy." My point is, that's fine. Disappointing for some people maybe, but fine.

Yeah, I didn't mention selfishness because I don't claim to know. There is evidence to support both sides. He's clearly a fan of himself...lol...as the whole spectical over the last couple of weeks has shown. At the same time though, he did use it to help some kids, and in the end he gave up money and personal "legacy" to try and win with friends. Not saying it was all done for noble reasons or anything, but I'm also not one who tries to crucify public figures for not meeting my personal expectations. They never do.

Lebron upstaged them by having a long drawn out TV special regarding his announcement when he already knew where he was going. All I'm saying is that IF Lebron is all about the TEAM rather than individual fame and glory, make the decision a day earlier with Bosh and Wade. Although I'm not a fan of Chuck, he went to Houston at the end of his career, not when he was 25.

Ok maybe I'm gullible because I see no reason for them to do this. I'm sure they were leaning one way. But even if it was so what? The bottom line it was better for basketball for it to play out this way.

But I dont think he knew 100% two years ago he was going to Miami. Chicago made moves, New York made moves and Cleveland failed to do so. You cant make ,well I wouldnt a decision without all the info I could possibly get.

I actually don't dislike Favre for what he has done off the field and I've never complained endlessly about that stuff.

                            Well see that's the difference.

I have never liked LeBron, he is the most egotistical and self-absorbed basketball player in the History of THE NBA. For the last two years this man has smiled and grinned and "summer of 2010" is going to be a great summer blah blah.

From dancing on the Bulls, to throwing a towel on the floor when the ballboy was in his face asking for it, to saying he "spoils people with his talent" to having this bull**** "The Decision".

Even Jordan was egotistical even Kobe was egotistical but the way that this man has deprived the NBA of class and dignity is beyond anything I've ever seen before.

It sucks that the Lakers are not the talk of the town for winning the championship the last 2 years.

                            Kobe will always be better.

                            Lebron has no heart.
