    Re: The LeBron James Thread

    This is too much:

For one night, fans of the Peoria Chiefs can have their own replica of LeBron James' first championship ring.

Call it the cheapest promotion in sports history because, like James' ring, the handout doesn't exist.

The Chiefs, a Class A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs in the Midwest League, will hold a LeBron James NBA Championship Replica Giveaway night on Thursday, poking fun at the Miami Heat star's loss in the NBA Finals to the Dallas Mavericks.

James "Replica rings" -- also known as air -- will be handed out by stadium workers as fans enter the park, according to Chiefs spokesman Nathan Baliva.

Throughout the game, Peoria will honor "a true champion," the Chicago Bulls' six NBA titles with video clips and audio highlights and the Chiefs will take the field to "Sirius," the Alan Parson Project song used by the Bulls during their player introductions.

The Chiefs said they are "looking into" whether they can skip the fourth inning to poke fun at James, who scored just 18 points during the fourth quarter in six NBA Finals games.

"We aren't sure if the league will allow it," Peoria president Rocky Vonachen said in a statement. "But if LeBron doesn't need to show up for the fourth, maybe we won't either."

Among the other James promotional digs planned: A fan will win a "replica" of James' Finals MVP award (which actually went to the Mavericks' Dirk Nowitzki), and Heimlich maneuver classes will be offered to help prevent people from "choking in a big situation."

"Really this is just us getting back to the real world and waking up today and trying to solve our own personal problems," vice president of ticket sales Eric Obalil said.

Baliva said a Bulls tribute for Thursday was in the works since November with the hope that Chicago would be coming off another NBA championship.

The James addition to the promotion was announced midday Tuesday, and Baliva said there was an immediate reaction.

"We were seeing stuff not just from Chicago and Cleveland but all over the country," Baliva said.

A minor league team ripping LBJ? So stupid it's funny. What's even more funny is that it's coming from the Cubs organization.

Good promotional move for the team.

Reflects poorly on their reputation, though.

      I'm not a fan.

Agreed. Good way to get in the news and get a little more people at the game but not as you mentioned reflects poorly on them.

Yeah, but you know what they say about publicity. Just look at the guy they're riding the coattails of for a great example of that.

The great thing about minor league teams is they do these kind of crazy promotions.

This would be better from a different organization though (maybe an Indians or Reds affiliate?) considering the Heat knocked the Bulls out of the playoffs, while LBJ put on a performance that had the media wondering if he should've been MVP instead of Rose.

Pretty much everyone out here hates LeBron. It should be well-received locally.

Yeah, Minor League teams gotta do whatever they can to get people to want to come to their games.

Love the explanation though. "just us getting back to the real world and trying to solve our own personal problems." Nice.

"Basically, I was saying, at the end of the day, this season is over. And with all the hatred, not only myself but everybody else has to move on with their lives as well. They have to move on with their lives, their day-to-day, the good or bad. And I do, too, at the end of the day. I got to move on with my life."

He moves into the off-season still seeking his first championship.

"It wasn't saying I'm superior or better than anyone else, any other man or woman on this planet, I'm not," James told reporters. "I would never, ever look at myself bigger than any of you guys sitting here, or anybody who watched our game, or anybody who would look at me as a professional basketball player. I'm not superior over anyone."

"It may have come off wrong, but that wasn't my intent at all."

I believe his response. I mean, some of those question he got at the Post Game Presser were so cutting and jarring. Especially coming right after losing the Finals. I would have answered those questions a lot worse if I were in his shoes.

There's a new cell phone out called the LeBron.

It vibrates, but has no ring.

The LeBron jokes are generally horrible. I mean, we have to have funnier jokes.

C' mon guys , I could of told what Lebron really meant after the finals. His quotes were taken out of context as usuall. But you know what, I believe u push a man far enough he will retaliate. What he said is what I thought he meant. Worry about your own lives and stop wasting your time on hating me. I really want to know what negative things lebron has said since he has been in the league. These are not negative things by the way.
1.) "I'm taking my talents to south beach."
2.)calling a reporters remarks about Dwayne wade purposely hurting Rondo being" ********."
3.) saying that the heat will win not 1, not 2 etc etc

Other than those I have never heard this guy say anything else that remotely comes close to what we have heard from other athletes.

I heard there is a new movie coming out starring Cleveland fans...... It's called "Unforgiven"

I heard there is a new board game coming out in Cleveland... It's like Jenga , if you lose a key piece of the structure the whole thing falls apart.

Just a little bit of humor..... Considering u guys should be able to take as well ad you give it.

For what it's worth , I wish he did stay on Cleveland. But I found out along time ago the key to life is adaptation , and if u can master that u will be a much happier person.
