I would love to see CP3 in Dallas. He has just the fire and leadership that team has needed for a long time.

Hmmm, did the Jason Kidd era in Dallas never happen?

If Paul goes to Magic they become the immediate favorites in the East.

Oops, I forgot about Kidd. But, Kidd can't take them any further. His best days are way behind him.

The Mavs underachieved more (arguably) than any team in the last decade. Having CP3 would make the Mavs a bonafide threat to the Lakers. Steve Blake is already shaking his adolescent arms in fear.

CP3 is in his prime right now, he hasn't done anything really in the playoffs. He hasn't even reached a conference final. He is one of the most competitive players in the NBA. And he is hungry. I know that Kidd has put up HOF numbers, but he has never really struck me as a game changer the way Paul has.

He averaged 24, 13, and 5 in the 07-08 Playoffs and averaged 16, 10, and 4 the following year so I wouldn't exactly say he hasn't done anything unless you're talking about from a W/L standpoint.

One thing I've noticed with these players is that we treat them as if they're 14 year vets and don't have much time to win a title. These dudes are 23-27 years old, in their 4th-8th years in the league so I don't really get the all the rush for having these dudes win titles. Not saying I don't understand it because I do(sort've)but we act like they have to HURRY up and win or else they'll never win one period lol.

Our society links individual success with team success.

Chris Paul might go down as one of the greatest point guards of all-time if he wins three or four rings, maybe even second greatest next to Magic. If he's on Orlando winning titles averaging the same or lower numbers than he did in New Orleans, he will become legendary. If he puts up numbers in New Orleans but never wins, he will be just another good PG in the NBA. That doesn't mean he's a better or worse player, it just means he was on a better or worse team.

These guys are trying to become legends, not just all-stars. Can't blame them really, it's in most people's minds that they want to be known for a long period of time, and winning is the quickest way to that.

I also wonder if CP3s knee prognosis has anything to do with it? I heard his knee is bone-on-bone right now and it is going to shorten his career by a good chunk. He may be out of the league in 4 or 5 years for all we know. Maybe he considers himself in NBA years 31 instead of 25.

Which is exactly why I'm not willing to give up the farm for him until MY team Doctors get a clean bill of health from him saying that the Knee won't be an issue anymore, which is highly unlikely seeing how he's had one meniscus taken out. Hell, there's no guarantee that he'll even be as he was before this and from what I remember seeing from him last year when he tried to come back, he wasn't looking like it.

I would love to see Paul in Orlando playing w/ Dwight Howard. Would be one of the league's best on-ball defenders couple w/ the league's best inside defender.

                        A Paul/D12 alley-oop connection would dwarf a D-Wade/Lebron one.

I hate (But love) to say it...Portland has a real chance. The Blazers reportedly, and big-contracted center Emeka Okafor, for Andre Miller, Joel Przybilla, Nicolas Batum, Jerryd Bayless and the 22nd pick. But that was two GMs ago, before the Blazers fired Kevin Pritchard and the Hornets got rid of Jeff Bower.

To be fair I am a Blazer fan that does want this to happen...Is it possible? Very much so...If Paul seriously wants out. Sub that pick for Babbit or Elliot Williams...Combine it with a future first rounder and it does in fact seem fair given the situation if Paul actually wants out.

They get a older player who will eventually retire (Who never gets injured AKA the ironman of the league)...a young PG with a lot of upside and a reliable center and a rookie they may get "lucky" with and a future first rounder...and a great perimeter defender in Nick Batum. Pull the trigger if you are both teams IMO (Only if Paul wants out)

There's different kinds of leaders, I suppose.

If CP3 was a leader like Drew Brees, he'd resolve himself to stay healthy and to do everything in his power to make his team better.

Hell, Kevin Durant might be a better leader in that regard than my man CP3.

CP3 might be a "leader" between the goalposts, sure, but he's always been somewhat dependant on others. Like how he throws fits when his friends were traded off the Hornets in Tyson Chandler or Rasul Butler, or how he got ticked when the Hornets didn't tell CP3 personally that they were firing Byron Scott, a person Scott says is like a son to him.

Can you be a true leader when you're that needy and prone to getting over attached?

One word chemistry. I think Chris Paul has the awareness on what's going around him, and as a leader the leader needs to speak on how he feels. He is not afraid to dispute decisions and I like that. He also leads on the court...Which is ultimately what it comes down to. Personally I think you need to treat your franchise player like a king...and listen to what he has to say.
