I'm not joking... the west is a big men loaded league... The Blazers big men struggle to stay healthy. The Jazz, Nuggets and Thunder are all better than the trailblazers imo. The east on the other hand is a wide open affair, other than the Heat and the Magic every other team is a question mark and the Heat are also a question mark because you don't know if the team will be able to coexist. On top of all that Will the celts be able to win with out sheed and perkins, The cavs are no longer a threat, The entire atlantic division is a question mark so the knicks could end up winning the division if they acquire paul. The Bulls are also a great team on paper but can Thinodeu lead a team to the finals?

I think the Blazers are better than the Jazz...We just snubbed their "rising star" and they just lost Boozer...So the Jazz will be a 6-8th seed. We always compete with the Nuggets...It's sort of a rival. How in the hell are the Thunder better than the Blazers? lol...They finished with thee exact same record in the 2009-2010 season which BTW Portland was limping with injuries the whole year. Camby + Emeka + Oden + Pendegraph + Cunningham = our bigs...Not the best bigs in the NBA but it's certainly a lot better than the Knicks.Comment

Then I have to believe mine will do likewise. Don't think we'll be indulging CP3's wishes just for his sake, if his mind can't be swayed that is. If we trade CP3 I have to think we'll get everything we can, which will NOT be New York's 3rd tier players with little upside, expirings, and backups.Comment

Re: Chris Paul wants out?
First off as long as KG, Pierce, Allen are on the Boston Celtics the Knicks will never win the division. Second off I think Paul is more concerned about having a chance in the finals than winning a "division" which is probably the weakest division in the NBA. So basing off your logic you are basically implying that the Knicks not being the worst team in the East is an accomplishment? Cleveland is not a factor so what? The Knicks will get brutalized by Atlanta, Miami, Orlando, Celtics, Bulls, Milwaukee and pretty much anyone out of the West who are playoff teams. If the Knicks got Chris Paul it wouldn't help them much, because they would have to trade the talent they do have for him while the Blazers would still have a boat load of talent.

Careful how you put words in people's mouths, man.
You said those two were off the table. All that's left if your 3rd tiers like Turiaf and Curry's expiring, right?
I'm not sure what Gallinari's got, but I hear he's a potential 20/10 guy. And Randolph is from LSU, so I know what he's got. Dude's in the same athletic mold as Tyrus Thomas, only with FAR more offensive polish.Comment

Re: Chris Paul wants out?
PG- Paul
SG- Douglas
SF- Chandler
PF- Amare
C- Emeka
That to me is definitely above average lineup for sure...But where is the second unit? Nowhere. Don't think the Knicks aren't giving up Felton if they were to trade for Chris Paul.
With Chris Paul and Emeka they would not get brutalized...But they would not be as good as Portland, Denver, Laker, Thunder, Orlando ect. of the league. I would say if they got that lineup they would MAYBE jump past Atlanta. Either way it's good for the Knicks if they get him more power to them. I am being honest though...It would seem like a small upgrade from a Hornets team to a Knicks team. They are not bad teams with Chris Paul, but they are terrible without him.
Larry Miller and Chris Paul has also developed a relationship through Nike...Roy and Chris had chemistry during the All-Star game. I remember Roy saying in a interview "I would love to be in the back court with Paul"
This is all speculation right now. I don't think the Hornets are willing to just "Let him go" they will try to convince him to stay, and will make moves if they want to win. I think Paul may have brought this up because he saw what happened with Kobe...He just wants to compete.Comment

If DEMPS is willing to part with CP3 alone the Knicks think about it, but if Okafer is attached like many reports are stating then I thing the Knicks will pass because it would mean having to add more players to make that deal work, which like I've also said before probably doesn't make us as good as we are now.Comment

Re: Chris Paul wants out?
Because the old New Orleans tropes are coming into play and I have to hear ti cuz I can't not watch ESPN and other stuff like that. We've got a cheap owner, bad attendance, financial problems, not a basketball town. All that stuff.
As a fan, I've been through something similar with Baron Davis. We were blessed when we got Chris Paul shortly after and he's a special player in a way B. Shiddy can only dream of being. I would absolutely hate to see him get traded or see him walk in two years because the way the NBA is set up, with the LeBron thing, and some of that stuff about our cheap owner being true causing us to lose a very good player.
Thankfully, things are starting to change.
Our old cheap owner Shinn is in negotiations with Gary Chouest a local billionare. We've finally gutted our old basketball ops and have a GM that comes from an organization that is the epitome of what a small market NBA team should strive for in the Spurs.
That's why I think all isn't lost with CP3, not yet. But he feels wronged.
CP3 was once promised that the big three of him, David West, and Tyson Chandler would never get broken up. And now we have Okafor. And not TC.
CP3 was best friends with Byron Scott because that's just how CP3 is, he gets real close with head coaches. And now Scott is gone.
And now it sounds like he was told we'd be very active in free agency (I seem to recall an article saying so as well) and the only move we made was bringing back an out of shape, but intriguing center in Aaron Gray and reneging on the Luther Head signing. Not exactly shaking up the world, you see.
So I can understand why CP3, a dude that loves winning, is frustrated and might think grass would be greener if he did like LeBron.
But at the same time, he's the face of our franchise. Our de facto team leader. He's not supposed to bolt when things are tough. Unfortunately, people make promises they can't keep sometimes. But the majority of those people aren't here/won't be here for long. If he really was as strong as we were lead to believe, he'd stick out the rest of his contract at least.
So yeah. I want CP3 to say a Hornet. No reason I shouldn't.
However, if he does bolt, then all isn't lost. This team was the Hornets before CP3 and it'll be the Hornets after him, whether he's traded, walks, or retires after a long career in teal pinstripes.
We've got a young nucleus (FINALLY) and some fun players to watch in Marcus Thornton and Darren Collison. And even our rookies look good again. Quincy Pondexter looks promising as a swingman. He's got a decent stroke from midrange and deep, and a rare desire to make an impact defensively. I watched most of John Wall's games and I saw almost no one D up on him as well as Pondexter did, and Pondexter's not even a point guard. Very impressive. Craig Brackins looks to be at worst a Channing Frye type. But if he bulks up and can be a factor on the boards, he could be a bit of an inside outside threat that'll make life after David West all the more easier.
So again, we'll survive this. We might not be championship caliber. But that could change in short order.
If CP3's on board, great, we're that much better. If not, so be it. His loss.Last edited by Eman5805; 07-23-2010, 08:29 PM.Comment

Re: Chris Paul wants out?
I have a very simple reaction to this:
Stern better get his butt moving to stop this kind of thing or else the NBA is doomed. So Paul wants to have his own "Big 3" to be part of UGH! You can't have a league with 5-6 teams with 3 superstars each and the rest of the league with the scraps. It's going to create a competitive imbalance that'll cripple the league for years IMO.
Now, i'm not saying Paul doesn't have reason to ask out as the N.O. ownership frankly sucks in how they've managed to screw things up. Still that doesn't mean that someone should cry like a baby just to get his way.
I dunno, i'm not really feeling the way these guys are coming across but that's just me.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

A absolute amazing story would be paul to Cleveland, and somehow they pull off a miracle and win the championship. Could you imagine if it was the heat they put away in the finals?Comment
