Re: Carmelo Anthony Traded To New York
Carmelo Anthony has requested to wear #7 for the Knicks.
The Nuggets will acquire four traded player exceptions in their Carmelo Anthony trade with the Knicks, one of which will be the largest ever.
Denver will essentially trade the contract of Chauncey Billups for the contracts of Raymond Felton, Danilo Gallinari, Timofey Mozgov and Wilson Chandler.
The Nuggets will receive traded player exceptions for Renaldo Balkman, Shelden Williams and Anthony Carter.
The traded player exception for Anthony will be worth approximately $17.15M and is greater than any other in NBA history.
Denver will also acquire a traded player exception worth $1.675M and two for $854k.
The Knicks will not receive a traded player exception from Minnesota. Eddy Curry and Anthony Randolph are absorbed by the Wolves using their cap space and by sending Corey Brewer to New York in exchange.Last edited by Kully; 02-22-2011, 02:59 PM.Comment

Re: Carmelo Anthony Traded To New York
That's why guys Melo is going to play the 4. And he is going to log a lot of minutes there. I know many might not agree. But from the looks of it. Part of me feels wrong about this trade. But I'll just wait for the finally judgement once they hit the floor.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: Carmelo Anthony Traded To New York
Ken Berger is tweeting some stuff about the trade. Said the only holdup now is Melo signing the extension. Will add more as he posts them.
From Ken Berger:
Melo is signing max extension with Denver today to trigger deal. Walsh says he believes NYK will have space for another max in '12.
D'Antoni said labor uncertainty was one reason to get Melo now bc not clear whether it would work in free agency under new CBA.
Deal could still be adjusted, but as of now it is three-team deal with NYK not getting draft pick from anyone, as @CBSSports reported.
Donnie Walsh hopeful all players will pass physicals (or have them waived) in time for Melo to debut at MSG vs. Bucks.
Walsh: "No idea" and "could care less" what role deposed team prez Isiah Thomas had in Melo trade. "I'm assuming Isiah is getting ready for the NCAA Tournament."
Walsh said Melo is signing max extension available to him under current rules: three years, $65m. Melomar'e will make $40m combined in '12.Last edited by Kully; 02-22-2011, 03:34 PM.Comment

Melo is not going to play the 4. The Knicks will make a move and bring in Earl Barron who will share the center spot with TuriafComment

Re: Carmelo Anthony Traded To New York
Yes, the Knicks talked to CB before the trade and told him they will pick up his option at about $15 million for next year.
Could also be dealt by deadline next year as a huge expiring deal for CP3 or D WilliamsComment

Details of Melo's extension. After earning $18.52 mil next season, he'll get $19.45 mil (12-13), $21.49 million (13-14), $23.53 mil (14-15)Comment

Re: Carmelo Anthony Traded To New York
If you think Utah or NO's will trade either of their PG's for an expiring Billups and whatever other trash NY could come up with you're only fooling yourself.
I mean seriously, why would you even say that.Comment
