Funny how when Philly offered to trade for him, he said he's not going to Denver, according to his own people which has already been reported.

Then Charlotte said they were interested in him and he said he's not going to Charlotte, according to his own people which has already been reported.

But yet, when it came to us the only thing he would say is, "They're interesting". Not granted he's under contract with Denver so of course he can't say much about it.

But think about this, do you really think we would be going thru ALL of this(from September to now)if we knew he wasn't going to sign an extension with us? Seriously?

He's(Melo)has already came out and said that it IS about the money and if he sits out and waits til the Offseason, since there's no CBA after this year, do you really think he is going risk losing ALOT of money just to get what he wants?

Again, he has NO leverage in this at ALL since he's not going to be able to have it BOTH ways(money AND playing for the Knicks).

And just to reiterate, this move has MORE to do with the fact that the Knicks have gotten good(relevant)very quick and alot more to do with the Nets avoiding to become the Clippers East when they move to BK.

Business first, then on the court according to the Russians. Me personally I don't like it but anything to make us somewhat relevant than what we currently are.

Its obviously Denver holding things up in hopes of getting as much bang for their buck as possible. Every time they got a deal in place, they want another draft pick, or they want to put Al Harrington's contract in the deal, and now they want to include Renaldo Balkman. Throw another 1st rounder in there too, Jersey.

I just hope it either gets done or move on from it because it's obvious it was affecting the team from an on court perspective these last few games.

Just send him home. And tell him not to play anymore. I feel bad for all the other guys like Billups. Who is really not looking to move any where.

And it seems like this will never move any where. Melo won't sign an extension and the teams trading for him won't agree to a deal if he doesn't commitment to an extension (while they lost important pieces to their team). Melo will only sign one with the Knicks. But Denver doesn't want any of their players. One side is going to have to break down.

Because it's not on the team. They could offer any trade scenario you can dream of - the Nets don't agree to it if Carmelo doesn't do a sign and trade for a long term deal.

All this "we're getting close" is just the suits lining up a deal hoping Carmelo agrees to it. It could all be for nothing but at least the fans of those teams can't say they are trying.

The right to not sign with any team he is traded to, the same any last year contract player has.

You can blow up your entire team for him and have him walk out in the summer.

Money or not, you don't know if he has the same makeup and other money hungry stars. His wife's opinion is pretty important to him too.

Devin Harris, involved in this mix, may be dealt immediately there after to Portland for Andre Miller/Marcus Camby.

Damn this would blow up a lot of teams in the NBA.

I want this trade to happen, it would suck for the Nets once Carmelo walk in the offseason to the Knicks tho. Are the Nets going to trade for him even if he doesn't agree to an extension? or is that whats holding the trade up?

When? The only thing I've heard him say is the complete opposite, that the money will be there, that he can wait. If it was just about the money he could just sign the extension.

And no, I don't think the Nets would go through all this if they knew for a fact Melo wouldn't sign, but that does not mean that they know he will sign. Could be Melo's agent pushing for a deal, hoping he can convince Melo. Could be Melo just trying to make it look like he's being reasonable and considering options. Or maybe he will end up signing. Who knows.
