Re: NBA To Impose New Guidelines For Technicals

I think this whole thing is a power move by Stern. It's the last season before possibly the biggest CBO in the league's history and he's sending this message: "I will break you. I can control you're emotions by not allowing you to show them. I can control what you wear by not allowing you to wear headbands upside down or inside out and enforcing a dress code whenever you're in the stadium. You will do what I tell you to do. And if you think this is bad, wait until you see what I do with your contracts. I will break you."

If he changes the tech rules before the season is over, I'm obviously wrong. But honestly, even with some of the rules and officiating that obviously caters to the offense, I have NEVER seen a rule as bad as the new tech rule.

Totally agree with u Slimm, and i dont want to get banned so i cant post my real answer but this and the lockout next is really gonna make the NBA lose alot of fans. Possibly even me

          From Kevin McHale:

“Respect for the game is playing hard,” said McHale, the former Wolves boss who is now an analyst for TNT and NBA TV. “Respect for the game is going out there every single night and busting your hump. If you’re going to give technicals out of respect for the game, it should be for guys who are doggin’ it. Give a technical to a guy who’s walking up and down the floor, or the guy who’s not diving after the ball or going after the rebound and not boxing out, or who’s afraid to hit somebody to make some space down there.
“Give them a technical, then I’m all for it.”

Re: NBA To Impose New Guidelines For Technicals

The biggest problem I have with these new rules is that a offensive player can react and make all the noise he wants. But if a player is on defense he can't react in the same way.

Like Reggie Miller said the other day said. "When a player running away from a ref. Why is the ref looking at the players react to him call? He should recording the call with the scorers table." I thinking after you record the foul with the table should be a T. But nothing once the call is made. Especially if the player runs away from the ref I think thats very stupid. Blake Griffin was running away from the ref talking to his coach and got T'ed up. The worst warning I saw this week was Ibaka getting a offensive rebound put it up. Missed the lay up. Get the rebound someone hacks him. He gets up and rasie his hands up in the air (looking up). "Saying thank you god"....And you can hear the ref warning him while at the free throw line.

Also I never knew that the reason Rondo doesn't wear a headband anymore is because they won't allow him to wear it upside down...I don't know about you guys. But the league is starting to get a bit stupid. If we go to a lockout. Some things are going to have to change on both sides.

Of course there was no consulting on this, just like it wasnt the last time

Last time guys were getting techs for saying oooooohhh

Now they're being teched up for putting their hands halfway up in a what did I do gesture

I just want to see how people will feel when their team gets screwed in the playoffs.

I still believe that if they going to enforce these rules offensive players should be called in the same way. I mean the fist pump is one the most iconic gestures or poses in sports period. I can understand when they took away the cut throat gesture. This makes me throw up at times.

Are you telling me that the typical Jordan fist after game winning shots is now a technical?

I feel it should be. The way they are calling it on defense.

                      LOL fist shaking

Well they took it a step further and told Mutumbo he could only wag his finger into the crowd... How's that for customer satisfaction

On defence players are complaining. The fist is a gesture of celebration and victory.

You see Mutumbo finger wave was a total taunt lol. Even to the crowd I would take offense to that lol.

It's even funnier to hear David Stern explain it. "We have the greatest players in the World....blah blah...." I wish someone would pour they're drink on him.

Its the same thing. When someone gets a "and1" and they do the fist thing. Its the same thing as reacting to foul and air punching. Paul Perice is a great example last year in the finals.

I'm sorry but giving somebody a Tech for doing a fist pump for getting the shot plus the foul would take this thing to even more ridiculous levels.

Techs are up 27% this year compared to last year:

Everyone still hates the new “Respect for the Game” technical foul guidelines even though it could be a good idea, right? The idea is to cut down on complaining and give the game a much better aura.
