I'm starting to draw a blank. Those are the only guards I can think of right now that's had a better career than Kobe. Can someone name me 5 more players?
I'm going to throw this out there and people can make fun of me if they want but it's how I feel:

I'm not following here, you saying Shaq is better than Kobe? I would agree, but I'm just wondering if you were meaning if we're counting Kobe among All-Time greats and not just guards cause that's where the discussion kinda went and you just started off your post with Shaq lol.

I don't think it's crazy to think that. I disagree but for what Kobe has done, you can definitely put them up there with what Magic has done.

Hard to say since their job descriptions were vastly different.

While true, I think Kobe could do largely the same things that Magic did. Magic was a better post player and obviously passer, but outside of that...Kobe was just flat out more talented.

Nonsense OSU, both players were blessed with ridiculous talents. Magic was the trigger man on a track paced Laker team. Kobe was a post feeder and the recipient of kickouts from Shaq on the double team. When playing one on one Magic was looking to deliver a cunning pass while Kobe is looking to create a launch point for his jumpers. Different flavors, both great.

Agree with AB that it's hard to compare Magic & Kobe so the only way I can answer it is this:

In some fantasy world where me and another Joe Schmoe are asked to pick a team pick-up style (you pick, I pick, you pick, etc) I would take Magic before Kobe. Also agree that it's crazy to say Kobe was flat out more talented.

Re: MJ on Kobe Bryant: "I'd Say He's A Top 10 Guard"

Kobe is an over achiever for how much talent he actually has.

He said it himself, he wants to be known as an over achiever, someone who squeezed every last ounce of his potential through sheer determination and dedication and manual labor. Imagine if Vince Carter or TMac did the same thing, we'd be talking about them and not Kobe.

That's not to say Magic or Kobe had more "talent" than one another because that's pretty hard to judge in itself. Kobe certainly had world class athleticism for several years, and also had excellent ball skills.

Magic on the other hand obviously was blessed with court feel and instincts and the ability to be a PG at that size.

Difficult to gauge who had more "basketball talent".

How many 6'9 points guards have we seen in the NBA besides Magic? That is a talent supernova right there.

                          And that's fine.

But how many guards have had the complete game that Kobe has had? Also, at what point does mental focus and drive enter into the talent spectrum.

Which is why I take Kobe over Magic. If I need to win a series or even a game, I'm taking Kobe. He may be an *** and a total jerk, but absolutely nobody questions his drive or his ability to come through in the clutch.

Magic has been nothing but money in the clutch from day one though. He does have three finals MVP's and his game 6 as a rookie in the finals is one of the greatest games in NBA history.

And that's good, never said Magic is not a HOF player.

I'm just simply saying Kobe is better.

Magic had great drive and came through in the clutch as well. in 1980 as a rookie, he filled in for Kareem-Abdul-Jabbar (who was injured) in a decisive game six and won the Finals MVP.

In a perfect world I would have Magic and MJ in my backcourt, and Kobe coming off the bench.
