I mean, look, it was clear KG wanted to play elsewhere, and the Celtics gave away 7 players, including Al Jefferson who put up some big numbers during his stint in Minnesota.

Maybe I just see too much green to argue with you guys.

Yeah, I really didn't think it was that bad of a trade. They got two 1st round picks, Al Jefferson, and a bunch of guys that had potential to be good players in Telfair, Gerald Green, and Ryan Gomes for a declining Kevin Garnett. I would have taken that deal too.

Al Jefferson was the only "loss".

Ryan Gomes put up some very good numbers for a while but he's not integral.
        Sebastion Telfair is a bum.
Theo Ratliff is decent Role playing vet who could contribute to the Lakers, but isnt integral.
        Gerald Green is a bum.

Well that's easy to say now, but at the time, the Twolves were getting Jefferson, who had star PF written all over him, plus 3 or 4 guys with potential to be very solid/good players in the NBA, plus two 1st round picks. That's a great deal for a PF on the decline that really wasn't going to make a difference for you anymore due to lack of surrounding talent.

Well at the time - Telfair, Green, and Gomes if u paid attention werent going to become ALL Stars. U cant tell me with all the analysis in the world, coaches and scouts predicted Gerald Green becoming an elite SG. If they knew that The Celtics wouldnt have let them go. And the jury is still out on Al Jefferson at this point in Utah.

Al Jefferson has the best post game of anyone in the league.

Jefferson learned alot in Minnesota w/ McHale coaching him.

True, but his last year in Boston he was playing at a very high level.

I do remember that, but was it All Star level?

Put up 16 and 11 and the All-Star isn't a determinant of one's skillset. Rather, what the fans want to see and how flashy players are.

I think people are forgetting that Boston went 20+ years between championships, with their only one coming with a big * because LA was playing without 2 key players. Just because it's a big market, doesn't make it automatic success. Don't forget also that everyone hated Ainge and wanted him fired (and don't forget the chanting of MVP to Kobe at the Garden). He got lucky with one good trade and all of a sudden he was forgiven. He hasn't done anything else really worth praising for besides standard moves. It's a bit premature to think Boston will be "alright" without their Big 3. Chances are, they're going to see a lot more dog years and another 20 years drought before continuous contention.

LA hasn't been the most consistently successful franchise in the NBA over the decades because they play in a large market. They have done it because of having the best owner and GM's over the years.

I'm a big Al Jefferson fan but he wasn't near All Star level that year. He was putting up a very solid 14 and 11 at the time of the All Star game that year but the backup bigs that made the team was Dwight and Jermaine O'Neal. Dwight was putting up 18 and 12 and O'Neal was putting up 20,10, and 3 blocks a night. Clearly those two guys deserved the nod over Al.

Whatever man. All-star or not, I'm disputing the man's talent and his last year in Boston was SKILLWISE, one of his best years as a pro. I know he put up better numbers in Minni, but he was no longer playing with Paul Pierce.
