Re: Which is the better stat line of these PGs
Um yeah, thats the point I was trying to me (sarcasm)
Telfair was still a hot prospect then (3rd year; still very young and overrated)
West was coming off a break out season...
Point is Rondo wasnt supposed to be getting minutes...Comment

Re: Which is the better stat line of these PGs
shouldn't elite players make the playoffs?
whether or not it is due to injuries is irrelevant, fact is... he's not an elite player
if you don't like how i judge players, thats fine, but i don't judge players by their stat lines (unless their teams have comparable success) basketball is a team game
chris paul DOES make a lot of flashy highlight plays so obviously thats coolComment

So then in your mind what kind of players was Kobe in 04-05 and KG from 04-05 to 07?? Where they still not elite players then??Last edited by PrettyT11; 01-09-2011, 06:32 PM.Comment

Re: Which is the better stat line of these PGs
How can you say injuries is irrelevant if that is the very reason why he/they didn't make the playoffs last year?? He only played half the season last year. I mean they did make the playoffs the two years before that and if the season ended today they would be in the playoffs this year.

Re: Which is the better stat line of these PGs
if i a player is out with an injury (i.e. NOT PLAYING) how can he possibly be an elite player?
if my memory is correct... they were the 1 or 2 seed the one year right? and they lost to san antonio in the first round?
i don't want to sound like i'm just hating... chris paul is definitely a top 5 point guard and probably top 3, to say he is "far and away better" is implying that he is an elite PLAYER not just an elite point guard... chris paul is NOT an elite player...
maybe semantics... but if you call chris paul an elite player you have to invent a new word for a guy like Lebron...
Deron Williams to me is an elite player because he just flat out does what his team needs to win, he'll either go for 30 points or like last night dish out 15 assists, he makes his team much better, (paul millsap, cj miles..)
Lebron is an elite player because he does what his team needs him to do to win and makes his teammates better (look at cleveland now without him lol).
kobe is an elite player because he has proven countless times that on the biggest stage when its win or go home, you cannot stop him from doing his thing.
dwight howard is an elite player because he makes opposing teams change how they play because of his defensive presence inside
also, all of those players have been doing their thing consistently for years
you gonna put chris paul in that category? guys like Rose and Durant APPEAR to be on their way to joining that category, at this point Durant is just a scorer and hasn't shown he can do it in the playoffs yet, and Rose is still too inconsistent. i can't put Carmelo up there because like Durant he is just a scorer, and hasn't shown he can do it at that level in the playoffs...
you can agree to disagree with me if you want, but you won't be convincing me that chris paul is an elite PLAYER. and i really don't care if my opinion isn't a popular one.
edit: wade is probably an elite PLAYER as well, guess lebron is just overshadowing him in my mindComment

Re: Which is the better stat line of these PGs
lol all I'm saying is if averaging 14 apg was much easier than people are making it out to be, why aren't more point guards (who have a good supporting cast) getting numbers like Rondo?
Carlos Arroyo, Raymond Felton and Jameer Nelson should be averaging at least 10-11 apg.Comment
