Yep, that is definitely a valid point about Rose pairing with an elite wing scorer.

Won't battle you on Durant, but we'll get to see him on display very soon! I think he has definitely adjusted his game so he's become a more unpredictable player. I feel as if he gained a lot of strength in his legs to make quick pivots/bursts to the paint off the catch.

I see a different Durant than last year. I think he's definitely had to adjust simply by the fact that teams have more film on him and learn his tendencies. I don't think he's changed his game dramatically, but I do believe the evolution is definitely evident.

Don't get me wrong now I have senn him make changes to himself and his game to be more versatile. I just wish he wouldn't settle for the jumper as much but the same can be said for alot of elite level scorers who have a good jumpshot. They all seem to fall in love with it sometimes instead of attacking.

I believe a big part of Durant maybe falling in the MVP talks is the expectations put on him coming into the season especially after the summer. Alot of people expected him to just flat out dominate and when it didn't happen what he was doing didn't look as impressive. Plus his slow start combined with Westbrook's improvement and fast start didn't help. No question though he is still an elite level player and would be on the short of guys taken to build a franchise around.

The Durant hype in the summer was also out of control.

People already saying he was gonna supplant LeBron

Still though, I honestly wouldn't be mad if he won MVP this year. I know Rose has maybe the best looking case, but Durant has played to expectations. There's something to be said when you're the new "it" team and you have that target painted on your back... and you still go out and win a bunch of games in a still tough western conference. Maybe he didn't put up as many points, but that's because you had the emergence of Harden/Westbrook/Ibaka.

I mean the team is totally different that last year IMO.

          OK Ex,

The best player in the league can be argued with anybody. LeBorn James, Kobe Bryant, Dwight Howard, Kevin Durrant, any of those guys. Someone picks LeBron, someone else can argue for Kobe and not be wrong. Someone can pick Dwight and someone else could argue Durrant and not be wrong. And I don't think that Rose should be excluded from the conversation as well. He can and should be grouped into those players as well.

The 'best player in the league' is an opinionated statement. And of those five guys I mentioned(LeBron,Kobe,Howard,Durrant,Rose) all could be argued as right. But don't treat the statement of 'Derrick Rose is the best player in the NBA' as some sort of paradox. If you disagree, then that's fine. But it's not a ridiculous statement.

I still feel like Dwight should get the MVP this year an personally I would still pick Deron Williams and Chris Paul over Rose, but I'm not going to argue when Rose gets his MVP trophy. He was very deserving this season.

Bottom line: if you say Rose is the best player in the league, then I'm gonna tell you the hype has gotten out of control. That's all.

You can group him with the elite of the elite, fine. But if you're gonna say he's "better" than LeBron. "Better than Kobe", "better than Wade", I'm tapping the brakes.

Hate to use the 'h' word, but yeah at times this season I think Bulls fans have been a bit outlandish. I don't blame them one bit, it's been tough since MJ left.

I could see a case still being made for Paul cause of his shooting ability, steals, and the way he runs the show but I can't really see the case being made for Deron over him after this year. The edge I gave to Deron before the year (shooting and defense) isn't there anymore. I still give Deron the edge when it comes to passing but Rose gets the edge when it comes to scoring, end game situations, and the ability to put a team on his back and carry them to a W.

Deron is a much better shooter then Rose. I don't think you can say Rose is without a doubt better when it comes to scoring the Williams. Rose shoots the ball 4 more times per game then Williams an only scored 5pts more per game this season. Rose is a much better at getting to the rim, hes like a smaller version of LeBron. Deron is much more better at getting his teammates involved then Rose is. Heck when he got to the Nets about 13ast pg. Defense I don't know I would say its a toss up.

Oh no I would still give Deron the edge when it comes to shooting. I was just saying the gap isn't as large as it was before this season. Rose actually outshot him across the board this year. Same goes for the defense. Before this year you would give Deron the edge but not after what we have seen this year. I don't think his defense improvement has gotten enough credit this year and often get overlooked because of his offensive improvements. Those are the two areas where Rose has closed the gap between the two of them. I agree with Deron being the passer and set up man and said so in the other post.

It's tough to play the homer card when so many sports writers agree that Rose is among the elite.

He's not the best player in the league, in my opinion, but he's elite.

There really aren't many Bulls fans who say he's the best in the league.

There's little doubt that he's elite and I don't think many people would say he isn't.

I think it shows how dedicated Rose is to getting better. Every season he has made great improvements in his game.

Durant, Kobe, LeBron, Wade all still showed they're still the cream of the crop.

Then you have guys like Dirk, Pau, Amare, Howard... Rose is probably on their level as far as this year goes.

Going forward, I still wouldn't be shocked if Russell Westbrook and Rose are neck and neck.
