Good points on Dwight. Tough to say though. Rose has been just as good and made big improvements to his game as well.

Honestly, I think I'd prefer it if it was Dwight and Derrick co-MVPs, but I highly doubt that happens.

So the criteria this year isnt best player on the best team?

Not in Rose's case but alot of these awards are watered down a grip now... guys can get an award from a reputation a decade ago or just a lack of a name available

I never liked the "best team" requirement. The MVP isn't always going to be on the team with the best record.

It won't always but it'll definitely give you an advantage over other potential candidates, that's for sure.

The people who vote(IE the Sports Bloggers and columnists)are moreso to blame for the lack of criteria because to them all that matters is if you have good-great #s and your team is winning(at least 15+ games over .500) then you already got a significant amount of votes headed your direction and once you got that, you've already got half the votes locked up for you.

That's why the Voting Process should go thru people who are actually involved in the game in some form whether it's playing, Coaching or GMing. Hell, I'd even give a vote or two to a few HOFers as well just to include them in the process. But again, this is the last thing the NBA needs to worry about correcting at this point right now.

Honestly, its a league award, it should be determined by the league, not some collaborated go with the wind process

Re: Who is your NBA MVP as of right now?

In a way though it is determined by the league. Not just every sports writer or blogger gets a vote. The league hand selects who has a vote or not. Now I agree the process might could use some changing or adjusting but it's not like every joe blow who talks about sports gets a vote on these things.

The NBA MVP voting is no different than MLB,NFL, or any other sports MVP award. The selected press members by that sport are the ones voting for the award.

Re: Who is your NBA MVP as of right now?

The process is still bogus because they vote for who they want to shove down your throat in any given year because they justified stiffing other players using the logic, oh he'll have plenty of time to win MVPs as if they can predict team wins/failures, injuries, etc.....

                    Bitching/crying/moaning again?

Again I ask, in the post MJ era, how many times have they screwed up the MVP? I mean screwed up to the point where you have valid reasons to complain like this?

I will tone it down, but people complaining about the MVP process like they've got it all screwed up is getting old as well. There is no criteria and yeah it changes from season to season, it's only natural for both of those things to be true. They have picked pretty much the right winners since MJ retired.

Rose deserves it, and he should get it. This year there haven't really been any standout performers, at least to the naked eye. I would consider it a down year in terms of individual success/status outside of Rose. Not taking anything away from Mr. Rose at all.

Dwight should come in second and then everyone else.

As long as the nba remains inconsistent, people are going to have something to say

Myself im not on an anti Rose for MVP campaign, its just all the different things you have to constantly have them throw at you over and over that is like a broken pattern that you can't get rid of.

In the end they get the right guy the award. I haven't seen any tragedies in recent history. So those same people who have something to say really have no leg to stand on and are wasting their energy. Those same people have no valid gripes that I've read yet.

Every season has it's own chemistry with injuries/level of support from teammates/unexpected individual and team success... I mean how exactly are they supposed to be "consistent" with MVP criteria? It's not that simple.

If you're okay with the criteria changing every year then fine, but some of us would like to talk about whats going on currently without someone else coming in the thread calling it a waste

Anyhow im not in the mood for debates or arguments

Id have to agree with ex...at the end of the day, I think they get it right...I cant think of a time they flat out bombed on it...

I think if you write a criteria in stone for the process, you take away much needed flexibility in making the decision...

Sure the medias all over Rose, but the guys playing great and has overcome alot this season...he deserves every report he gets...
Hey, by the end of last year Durants coverage was blowing everyone elses out of the water...and they still got it right IMO...so I dont have a problem with the commitee...
