Not really unhappy with Sloan...just with the way the team is being ran. Williams wants to run more, there was a report early this year that the new guys weren't picking up the system as fast and it was making Williams frustrated. Just small stuff like that.

And I'm fully aware that could happen, OSUFan_88. This could turn out either very bad or very good.

This is what I was going to ask too. I saw a few people mention that in a few posts above, but I'd never heard of Williams being unhappy with the coach.

Re: Report: Jerry Sloan to resign

The rumors that are flying around out here in Utah and on the internet are insane. I've see reports that say that Deron forced him out, the KOC and Sloan got in a fight after the game, that AK was traded and Sloan wasn't supposed to play him but he did anyway, it's insane.

From what i've read it seems to be a rift between Sloan and the GM. I'm really sad that his tenure is going to end on such a sour note. I've always liked and respected what Sloan has done through the years. I just can't imagine the Jazz with any other coach.

            More reports:

            Salt Lake Tribune's Brian T. Smith -
Sources say building tension within Jazz, frustration with system, chemistry lead to Sloan stepping down.

Sources say Sloan had lost team. One described situation as Deron Williams only staying if Sloan stepped down.

Jazz's Sloan yelled at Williams last night. Two have been going at each other all season.

            ------

Jeff Zillgitt, USA TODAY sports reporter -
Jazz guard Deron Williams has said several times this season players had trouble running the offense/knowing the plays

Williams said something to that effect here

Williams said that a much-changed Jazz squad had a “better mesh of guys” in 2009-10, longing for the days when ex-Utah guards Wesley Matthews and Kyle Korver could command attention and respect from opposing defenses, in turn stretching the floor and balancing out the team’s offensive attack.

And Williams again pointed out the Jazz’s inability to run Sloan’s offense like it needs to be executed, as everything from Utah’s poor floor spacing and timing to the simple inability to set hard screens has prevented his team from “flowing.”

“We’re trying to run half of a system and then half just freelance,” Williams said. “We can’t do that. We’re not the Phoenix Suns. We’re not the New York Knicks. We’re not just coming out here and playing one-on-one. But that’s what’s happening. Things are breaking down and we’re going one-on-one the last five seconds of a shot clock.”

            ------

From last night, reports of a Sloan/Williams argument (Adrian Wojnarowski and Marc Spears, Yahoo!):

Sloan’s relationship with point guard Deron Williams had grown progressively worse over the course of the season, league sources said, and the coach had tired of dealing with the team’s best player. The frustration escalated on Wednesday night when Sloan and Williams clashed in the locker room at halftime.

“He decided right there in halftime that he was done,” a league source told Yahoo! Sports. “He felt like ownership was listening more to Williams than they were to him anymore. He was done.”

One source said Sloan had become tired of Williams “blaming everything on everyone else.” Still, Williams, who can become a free agent in the summer of 2012, has remained the Jazz’s best and most consistent player after the departure of several key teammates. Williams has always had a reputation for wanting to win badly and being a strong leader.

              Nice Kully.

Sounds like another JKidd/B. Scott situation

Re: Report: Jerry Sloan to resign

Williams has done a lot of talking since that Brewer trade last year. More reports saying basically the Jazz players were tired of Sloan and Williams wouldn't return/ask for a trade if he was still coaching.

Yeah Williams was heated when they traded Brewer.

                  Kully, find the article, lol.

                  Edit:

                  Here we go

                  http://www.abc4.com/sports/story/Wil...e8IMQEX9w.cspx

Talking to reporters at this morning's pre-game shootaround as the Jazz were getting ready to play Golden State, Williams said, "I really ain't got nothing much good to say about the trade. You look at all the teams that are getting better around the West and we essentially get worse, if you ask me."

In fact, Williams went so far to say how this trade may impact his future with the team saying, "That's why I signed a three-year deal."

Back in July of 2008, Williams opted not to sign a five-year deal, so if he doesn't like the direction the team is headed, Williams could leave as early as 2012.

That line had me rolling when I first read it. Williams was mad. His best friends on the team, Brewer and Korver, left and he just seems frustrated in games. Personally think he would be an available free agent target, over CP3 and Howard. Right now everyone seems to be blaming Williams. I still wonder on the truth of the rumours though.

I think this is it for Sloan, isn't he 70? Time to spend some time at home. If he did want to coach I'd say there would be a lot of spots for him to give it another shot.

Williams is getting slandered pretty hard now . I gotta wait to see what Williams says in all this, but people are bound to turn on him now even if the reports are false.

Re: Report: Jerry Sloan to resign

Yeah Williams' best friends are gone and the team just isn't even at the level they were last year where they would get owned by Los Angeles anyway.

Still not sure how it'll effect Williams, but I don't know how they are going to acquire the necessary pieces to take the next step into contender status.

Next year is going to be crazy with the rumors though... that player option for the following year was perfect for him.

As far as Sloan, yeah I think it's about time guys like Phil, Larry Brown etc., retire. Honestly they've had their runs and they aren't going to do a damn thing with new teams. It's a different era in basketball...

As a big Jazz fan, I'm ashamed at the things I'm reading other Jazz fans say about D-Will. They're pretty much blaming him for this whole thing and calling for his head. Sloan has lost this team and we aren't playing no where close to our talent level. D-Will wants to win and if he yelled at Coach Sloan, so freaking be it. Sloan lost touch with the way the game is played now and I'm glad he's stepping down. It sucks because he's a great coach, but his time has passed.

I just hope that the Jazz can make the moves to keep Deron happy.

Wow, he just signed a 1 yr deal last week didn't he? They'll probly hire Mike Brown to replace Sloan next year. The narrative of Dwill leaving in 2 years is getting louder.

Once again, it was just a one year extension. Haha I don't see the big fuss about that. That's virtually nothing, it's like only putting $10 in your gas tank when it was already running on empty.
