Re: The worst pick up players.

lol I noticed after the first few times she came to watch us that she didn't really care or pay attention. It was always the same response if I played good or bad, so I've never really tried to show out when she's around.. It's funny specifically knowing guys that do that though. I had a roommate who's just cocky in general about everything, and his new girlfriend came to one of our games.. And it just so happened one of our starters didn't show and he had to play most of the game.. It was hilarious to say the least lol.

I've been reading the first few pages of this thread(trying to kill time)and have been in tears reading some of the responses while agreeing with them, lol.

The video VDusen posted(about the worst 11 kinds of players you'll see on the court)had me rolling LMAO.

Re: The worst pick up players.

Re: the girlfriend stuff, when mine shows up for one of my high school games I just play a lot tougher and it pissed off a guy to the point that he started casually throwing MWP elbows in front of the refs who didn't care lol.

Which is a nice lead into the worst kind of pick up player, the one who's throwing elbows and playing more than super physical to the point that it's barely even safe. It's pick up man, c'mon now lol.

I used to play against a guy in his early 20's who'd call for the ball by clapping his hands vertically and yelling, "Feed the shark!" He went by Grease. Or Greez. One of the two.

Probably already been mentioned in here but the guy who hacks the **** out of you or anybody on your team when it's game point for your team.

They don't even attempt to play D, they just start hacking and call it "playing tight D". I didn't know playing tight D meant smacking me upside my head every time I go up for a basket.

That's always the worst, and they will never call the foul and if you call it just a second too late or just don't say anything because it was obviously a foul there will be a 30 minute argument over you not calling it in a timely manner.. Smh some people.

I've never understood the insistence on calling it in a timely matter. If I'm hacked so hard that I'm falling to the floor while driving in I'm not gonna call it for a second. It isn't because I'm waiting to see if it goes in, it's because I'm kind of focused on the fact that I'm about to fall on my face and bracing myself.

The issue I have is with people that seem to wait until their shot goes in to call the foul, mostly on layups.

I think if you get knocked to the ground, MOST people are going to stop and call a foul without the person who got fouled having to say anything, in those obvious situations everyone just kind of stops.

The other one that's irritating is the guy who will call anything. Is he driving toward the basket? Better not bump him at all on his way there, or he's going to call the foul. People that refuse to accept any kind of physicality are irritating.

Yeah I used to play with a guy who every time the game got to within two points of being over he would get the ball to take the game winning 3. If he was even decently contested he would call foul every single time, sometimes he would call 6 or 7 fouls in a row, some shots that he even made, until he felt he got a clean look.. So annoying.

What's the consensus on calling a while shooting and the shot goes in? Bucket good or since you called foul you have to check it up?

If it's offense calls fouls and you call it and the shot goes in it's no good.. If it's defense calls fouls and they call a foul while you're shooting and it goes in the basket counts.. At least that's how I've always played.

Even worse, some hack whenever the ball gets in the paint (drive or pass to a post player). Of course they then complain that you're calling so many fouls but that wouldn't happen if YOU WOULD STOP FOULING!

Ha, we had a good convo on this subject earlier in this thread, but that was dozens of pages ago and is now tough to find.

I'm a part of the "count the bucket" crowd. Mostly because, why wouldn't the basket count? Tying into what SteelersFreak said above, nobody likes a guy who makes foul calls late, especially if they're waiting to see if the basket goes in. So if a player does it the right way (calling a foul the moment it occurs - in the act of shooting) why should he be punished for making a great play and hitting the shot anyway?

Even as a defender, I can't imagine trying to take away a bucket from a dude just because I fouled him and he was still able to finish anyway. He calls a foul because I hacked the bejesus out of him in the act of shooting, he properly calls it on the spot, and is still able to finish by overcoming my illegal play? I tip my hat and we go the other way.

Yeah but people are cheats and tools on the basketball court.. If you let the basket count, and it's offense calls fouls, you'll have those guys who will call a foul nearly every trip up the court because their is no consequence.

But if it's defense calls the fouls I'm with you, the basket should be counted.

If the defender calls the foul and the bucket goes in I've always seen it counted unless "extreme continuation" occurs. Something like "everyone else stops playing" and/or the offense takes another dribble would be "extreme continuation" in my book.
