Wow. Only on the Internet, man.
I didn't read that as condescending. Ex can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he's saying if all we know of this kid I'd this comment, we shouldn't let it define him. Just how I read it tho.
There are a lot of problems with the situation with these refs. Exposing them would make them tops in the line of fire of fans. imagine fans being able to tee off on refs the way they do against Lebron. That'd be a big distraction for the league. When that happens to a player it just adds to the drama, but with a ref it takes attention away from the game. Also, as it is most of these situations never reach the mainstream public or become serious news. Start publicizing ref related issues and again you're faced with the integrity of the game being an issue, rather than the conflict between teams.
Stern needs a way to send a message to refs that is quick and to the point, but not so much that the well fed veterans quit or strike. As bad as things are, college and international refs are waaaaayyyy worse, so these guys are not easily replaceable. Whatever checks and balances are put in place need appear to be for the game's best interest and not just the iron fist that he uses to come down on the players with.
The other solution is for the players and the union to have a non-strike oriented retaliation to force the Stern to at least consider fining the refs as much as the players in these situations. It's for their own protection after all because you can only call a 20 something year old man a bitch so many times before he says screw it and punches you into the ICU.Comment

All I know is Dallas has a history of underachievement when it comes to the playoffs. I would like them to make a deep run, just don't see it happening.
After the Golden State shocker they haven't been able to shake that soft label. Whether it is warranted or not.Comment

Dirk has always had OK help, but nothing spectacular. Adding Tyson Chandler helped them a lot. Catching lobs and defense. All I know is Dallas has a history of underachievement when it comes to the playoffs. I would like them to make a deep run, just don't see it happening.

However offensively they still have issues beyond Dirk and always have had the same issue.Comment

I see what you are saying and I understand...but compared to whom?
You think Dallas will lose to one of those teams in the first round because of "the Mavs history of underachievement"? What history does OKC, Portland, New Orleans, or Memphis have? How many playoff series have players on those teams won?
Dallas is held to a different standard than those teams I guessLast edited by ZB9; 03-31-2011, 07:18 PM.Comment

Re: 3/28 - 4/3 Game Discussion Thread
I know CP3 has won 1 playoff series in his 2 trips to the playoffs and I know Marcus Camby has quite a few as well.
Oh and Portland actually has quite a bit of history as well, especially in the Playoffs.#RespectTheCultureComment

I hear ya man, but im just talkin about the current players on their current rosters...
Mavs are supposed to lose in the first round because of "their history". My point is compare that to the history of the players on the rosters of the teams that are supposed to beat them
Dallas does certainly have a lot to prove though. That is truthLast edited by ZB9; 03-31-2011, 07:25 PM.Comment

Golden State, as a team, had no playoff experience when they upset Dallas in '07. Why would it matter now?I see what you are saying and I understand...but compared to whom?

Re: 3/28 - 4/3 Game Discussion Thread
I could cherry pick plenty of playoff wins. How many playoff wins can you cherry pick for OKC, this current Portland squad, or Memphis, or New Orleans...
Anyway, this is a different team obviously. As far as that Golden State squad, this Dallas team has a true point guard, a vet coach, and a solid center for once, things that Dallas team didnt have, so it would probably be a different story...but this years Denver team is the one that resembles that team the most but the Mavs wont have to play the Nuggets...Last edited by ZB9; 03-31-2011, 07:50 PM.Comment

(going strictly off the head so I might miss on a few of these):
OKC: They have Mohammad(in SA), Perkins from his Boston days.
Memphis: Battier from his Houston Days
POR: I think Andre Miller has one but I could be wrong.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: 3/28 - 4/3 Game Discussion Thread
All I know is dudes are sleeping on Denver simply because they don't have a big name. They can win at least a series on that premise alone. Much as I like OKC and think they can knock off the Lakers this year, I also believe that they aren't invincible and could very well come out looking to LA and get shocked by the Nuggets. As already mentioned, the Blazers have the best chance of those teams to knock off one of the top four and Dallas and LA would be wise to fight tooth and nail to avoid a matchup with them in the first round. Either way this is going to be a great year of the Playoffs on both sides.Comment

I hope your right. Because I think if the Bulls can get to the Finals I feel they can beat any of the West teams in a 7-game series, outside of the Lakers. All I know is dudes are sleeping on Denver simply because they don't have a big name. I think OKC is the 2nd worse matchup for Chicago. Perk to battle Noah. Serge to defend Booze. Thabo and Westbrook on rose and Durant straight up on Deng. OKC is as deep and I think Westbrook is the last player in the playoffs that Rose wants to see.Comment
