Who can dominate a game without scoring a single point?

We've all heard of the old description of certain players in the NBA who can dominate a game without scoring a point. This is rarified space because this excludes some of the greatest players of all-time. Namely guys like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and Karl Malone. We've heard this described to guys who are either defensive aces or do-it-all point guards(or point forwards). Guys like Dennis Rodman, Dikembe Mutombo, Jason Kidd and Magic Johnson are some of the few.

So who are the ones playing today who can dominate a game without scoring a single point? Thoughts?

Rondo (besides last night lol). I use to think Camby was like that. But when he was on the Knicks.

I thought him, but he gets in foul trouble so easily you can't always depend on him for the whole game.

A few years ago, I went to a New Jersey Nets game in Dallas.

Jason Kidd (Still on the Nets) was having an awesome game setting up his teammates and keeping us in it. When I looked up at the scoreboard, however, I saw that he still had 0 points with 5 minutes left to go.

Probably the best in the league of dominating a game without threatening to score IMO.

You cant play that way anymore. The game is too offense favored.

Dwight Howard is the only one who would remotely come close to being that way.

Kevin Love can do a lot of other things well besides scoring.

Why not? There are other facets of the game that plays a big part as well. Yes, scoring is the primary objective. But the beauty of basketball is understanding how you got those points and how you kept you opponent from scoring more than you.

Dwight Howard would be in that category. It's hard to keep Howard from scoring zero points BUT there are times where he can just score 10-12 points and still have a dominate impact on the game with his rebounding and defense.

Rondo definitely falls into this category as well. However, it's necessary for Rondo to find other ways to win the game outside of scoring because he is a limited scorer.

Ben Wallace was one of those guys. Made blocks, rebounds and even made at least 2 steals a game. Or his teammate Tayshaun Prince.

                          Ron Artest.

                          Bruce Bowen.

I'd take Battier over both those guys. If it was Artest from 3 or more years ago, I'd agree 100%. Battier is a better on-ball defender now and makes less bad decisions on the court.
