    Re: CBA/Lockout Discussion Thread

Nobody wants to watch them right now, but there was a time when they were fun to watch

So essentially im saying you dont have to be LA or NY to be watchable on Christmas Day but obviously the NBA doesnt feel that way and for some reason they only push who they want to

They have a golden opp to get people more interested in Memphis but will they?

Why couldnt they have a Memphis OKC game on that day? Id rather watch those guys scratch and claw at eachother than watch Kobe ignore Mike Brown for 4 qtrs

Winning teams get tv exposure. Nobody wants to see two scrub teams on tv, let alone Christmas Day.

        Re: CBA/Lockout Discussion Thread

Both of those teams advanced farther than LA did this past year and the games were much more exciting at that

I guess you werent around when they were playing into those OT's

Thats the problem, they arent scrub teams but its definitely something the NBA has put into the fans heads

Hopefully we get this hard cap and all those teams are awful @Christmas. Clearly I'm different from your casual fan I want to see as much of the league as possible, but if you don't have league pass basketball makes it damn near impossible to see the Kevin Love, Rudy Gay, Danny Granger of the NBA.

A well run NBA team will win no matter if its a hard, soft, or fitted cap. Lol, it doesn't matter.

                Seriously?

When you have some teams spending twice as much as some other teams and it doesn't matter? Really?

When a players can be on tv all the time, get paid more, and live in a big city ofcourse they will have an advantage. You take the money out of that equation and then talk to me about being well ran.

I guess we'll see then. I don't think having a hard cap will make a world of difference.

we will see indeed, its a hard cap, not a fantasy draft.....I dont think the changes will be AS drastic as suggested...

                        LoL, gotta love Smush Parker.

PS As a Lakers fan, them losing every Xmas severly hurts my holiday spirits. I'd be happy to have LA bow out of XMas day games. Always thought it was funny how the NBA milked the hell out of blasting LA every xmas, whether it was Kobe/Shaq or Kobe/Bron.

The networks demand higher ad rates for larger markets. A 0-10 Lakers team will command a higher ad rate than a 10-0 Grizzlies team. Winning & losing has little to do with it. The networks not the NBA set the national TV schedule. Why? Because ABC/ESPN has a 485M investment and TNT has a 445M investment annually. They want to recoop that money, the best way to do that is to show large markets teams the majority of the time.
I dont remember there names but they were allot of fun....

Right, but the mindset of these "small" market teams not being able to hold over and audience is generated by the marketting strategy of the NBA, which caters to letting the rich get richer while the poor get thanked for spicing up the playoffs (Grizzles, Thunder for example), yet don't get the full marketting any team selling in the top 5 of jersey sales gets. I'll say that Stern pushed the OKC Durant's a bit this year, but even then.

This is what we're been saying all along. You can't say all the people want is big market teams when the rules are set up in the favor of big market teams.
