Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion
I'm going to pat myself on the back for this one because I knew this is what would happen. This is the pattern folks. I look forward to them meeting today and tomorrow and then having a blowup. Then Stern will officially cancel games until Dec 1. Then they will take the wknd off and meet again next week,Comment

You've made me a believer Mr. Holbert ! I bet this is EXACTLY what will happen.Comment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion
One interesting fact is if they reach an agreement, a new schedule will have to be created. Its actually Jay-Z and Kanye West's fault. They have gobbled up several dates in December that were scheduled for NBA games.Comment

And if they have to redo the Schedule, as long as I have 4 games of Nets-Knicks, then I'm good with whatever they do with it. But just give me my 4 games, please.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion
After i listened to bill simmons podcast with Billy Hunter i just sat in the living room and thought... the only way the deal gets done is if the owners accept the 53% (or 52.5) because there is absolutely no other way that they could spin it as a win-win and we know how important that is to these negotiations. When technically the owners gave up no concessions...but thats not really the point.
Definitely interested to see what the system changes will be, the idea of no max player salary by Cuban would be interesting to say the least. You know the owners wouldnt sign off on that one as a whole. It probably would be the best cause for "competitive balance" because if you want to pay one player 90 percent of your cap and the rest minimum salary players.Ericmaynor3.com

One key fact is that if the league misses the Christmas games, they will have to give some money back to ABC. The ABC games are guaranteed but the ESPN and TNT games are not.Comment

I hope I'm wrong on all points because I do want to see basketball this year BUT no one is budging and these negotiations are just a show for Stern to tell the fans, 'At least we're trying'...whatever.I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Dont get your hopes up. I'm not going to get sucked in again. Everytime I think they are close to making a deal a person like Garnett or Paul Allen ****s up the deal. I'm still sticking to my games start Dec 1 prediction.

- I think a deal gets done with a 50-52 percent band. Its a middle ground. Hunter can say I didnt really give the owners a 50-50 deal and Stern can say the owners now will get 1.6 billion more than the players over the life of the deal.
- I listened to the podcast yesterday and Hunter came off as poorly as Stern did a few weeks ago. One, Hunter wasnt able to properly describe what leverage the players have. He just said their leverage is the player's unity which doesnt make much sense. I also thought he was full of **** when saying that there are only 5-10 players who arent earning their contracts and he kept saying that the owners wanted to take away guaranteed contracts when that hasnt been the case for 2 months.
The owners screwed up big time with that fake *** ultimatum. It gives Hunter a legitimate point when arguing that he wants to make a deal and the owners dont.Comment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion
If what Hunter said was true about the owners still talking about percentages in the 40s during that meeting...Garnett was right for wilding out. 50/50 was already public, how are you gonna go backwards from that point. Deal was nowhere close to getting done if that was the case
Also you notice Garnett wasnt at any meetings before and hasnt been to any after. He did that fake *** intimidation **** he does on the court and tried it in a negotiation. As you can see....it got us nowhere. The league is still at 50 and the Union has actually dropped below 53%. It was a waste of ****ing time.Last edited by aholbert32; 10-26-2011, 10:20 AM.Comment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion
Thats not what happened. The owners were at 47% and the players were still at 54 hinting that they would go to 53 but no further. The owners hinted they would go to 50 and Garnett blew that offer up. They walked away and refused to negotiate any further that day. As mad as I am at the owners for that ultimatum crap they pulled last week....the players walked away once also. The owners didnt go backwards either. 50 wasnt on the table before the Garnett meeting.

Complete sidenote: But where do you get the sources from the owners sides of the meetings, everything i get is union slantedEricmaynor3.com
