Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Bargaining Agreement Discussion

Sources in talks say two sides have met separately and together during first 90 min. "Same old, same old," one person said.

They'll go to a straight 50/50, owners will balk, they'll walk out of the room, another 2 weeks will be cancelled

today's meeting started 1hr late; hard-liners MJ & Paul Allen present; C Billups present. Chauncey is strong, could keep union from caving

One counter to widespread NBA labor pessimism: Two teams said today they expect strong push toward deal tonight. Cause all parties worn out

I also find serious fault with the players. They've seen all this coming for two years and did nothing to protect themselves or gain some sort of leverage. They have been reactive throughout this whole process, so now they're going to get ****ed over in the short or long-term.

Yep, we realize that....all of that. Its still a crock that they are working under the guise that this lockout is continuing b/c they "want the game in the best possible place"

Yep. That article from Grantland just further convinces me that this was never about a fair deal. People can believe that the players could have ended this lockout a few weeks ago by signing that 50/50 deal if they want to, but if that deal gets done then, the Union ain't hanging on by a thread the way it is now with Hunter with a foot out the door, Fisher being dissed and questioned among just general dissention in the ranks.
