I'll say no, but at the same time I wouldn't be surprised to see the players cave and we get half a season or some bull**** like that.

Good thing is that they've disgusted me so much that I don't feel too bad about it now.

I haven't been reading much on the lockout because it pisses me off too much, but this was a good read IMO.

It's best no one comments on the elephant in the room in that article though.

Didn't read the whole thing but this seems like it was a written by someone who favors the players??? Gonna read the rest a little later when I have more time but no doubt its an interesting read. There is some validity to it that's for sure.

I wouldn't say it favors the players. I'd say it favors no one. Bill Simmons breaks down everyone's agenda and why that agenda doesn't mesh with the other parties in the negotiations.

I wish Simmons would write this stuff every day. No writer knows the NBA like he does.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

Agreed... its not pro anything, he's called out everything we've been saying in one condensed article and made the points very clear

He sees the slimeballs in this ordeal just like we do

The craziest part is how we have to sit back and wait and can't do anything about this

The fans....thats the one thing being left out of all of this

Simmons has written a lot of good pieces over the years, I would put this up there as been one of his all time best. The players as Sonny Corleone is so apropos.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

Can't deny BS write up is right on. I usually disagrees with Simmons views, but this is the prefect summarization.

Ok so it seems like people have tuned out to this thread but there have been a few developments during the last day:

                                - The players voluntarily dismissed their CA complaint. That doesnt mean the suit is over because they just merged the plaintiffs in the CA complaint with the MN lawsuit. The players did this because they were unhappy with the judge the CA case was assigned too.

                                - The player's attorney, Boies, stated that he may give the NBA a call in the next day or so to see if they are open to negotiations. The NBA appears to be open to meeting with the Union's attorneys.

                                - According to Ken Berger, the league desperately wants to make the Christmas games and doesnt want to have to start the paying back the networks for missed ad revenue.

                                - I could see both sides meeting this wknd or early next week.
