How about some of the stars that only have 1 year left on thier deals? Would they have risked anialiating (Stupid spellcheck not working ) Chris Paul, Deron Williams, or Dwight Howard?

I believe the more ego involved the worse the negotiations would have been. Weren't we just arguing about how the average NBA player should be negotiating and having a voice? Having the star players in this negotiation would point to the opposite.....
I agree, especially since they've said that they're not just "fighting for us, but for the future as well".

      Miller:
"I would say gentleman, the owners and players are both at fault here. For the owners, stop overspending for mediocre talent. Maybe you need to evaluate your staff and hire better general managers and/or presidents that can assess your talent better. There's no way you should give Rashard Lewis $120 million, 30 year-old shooting guard Joe Johnson $130 million and Travis Outlaw $30 million for five years. Start looking at your GM’s because that's the reason we are in this mess in the first place because you can't assess talent well.

For the players, start looking in the mirror because you guys are not as good as you think you are. You are resting on the laurels of the players that came before you when the puddin' was good and the banks were open. You've got to look at the situation we are all in now. This is an economic downturn and everyone is losing money - the owners and the players. You guys need to come together and get over this."

Now Jared Dudley is running his mouth.

RT @stackgainsgreen: @JaredDudley619 Its a soft cap. Just take 50/50 because right now you have a 0/100 deal ( 50/50 was NEVER OFFERED!)

That reads to me like 50/50 would be accepted if offered. Then OFFER it! Oh, but you and your players wont. Because now you REALLY have zero leverage. Because you focused on standing united.

As for Reggie/people who say don't give money to players who don't deserve it. Well, you have to field a team somehow. You think any player's going to sign for the contract they're really worth? I don't like this idea and it keeps getting repeated ad nauseum.

That's what the owners are doing now. They are locking out players to try and work a deal that will help all the teams turn a profit, while still making sure players get paid to what the market allows.

I just want to see the budget for teams even. It's not fair that the Lakers can spend so much for their team but Sacramento can't. We all watch basketball for the competitiveness, but when it's not competitive, it's not fun to watch anymore. The playing field needs to be evened out.

When it boils down to it, the fans are the whole reason for the NBA. It's all about us. There are 30 teams. We want to see them all compete on equal grounds.

More Jared Dudley wisdom in parenthesis:

RT @RobotRooster: Hey how about all of you NBA players work for $30K - 50k like the rest of us? ( Avg NBA career is 3yrs, most will)

...I think he forgot to finish his thought that "most will make more in that 3 years than most people see in a lifetime". Damn Twitter character limits.

I don't think forcing the players to concede everything is being responsible.

"Why is Tupac Back?" - Because Lebron disappeared in the Finals.

                            Huh?

So your saying it's completely ok for the league to muscle the union in an attempt to "break them"? On top of that it's the union fault for not submitting to the owners every demand?

My point is when does the league plan to start negotiating and stop trying to extort the union.

Considering that the Players(aka Top 10%)had their chance to avoid this, no one to blame but themselves for being in this situation.
