Not at all but I suggested that comparing him to Jordan (in a sense that he is or ever will be considered better) is ridiculous and that we should instead just talk about what he IS and has done... to that I was called a dick. What's followed is many people bringing details to the idea that he isn't in Jordan's league which further shines a negative light on him bc a fellow Kobe lover wants him to be considered the G.O.A.T.

Just saying, blame your boy, not those proving him wrong.

      Spoiler

Kobe is a great player, probably in the top 10, but please let's not get carried away with this G.O.A.T. talk.

I agree Kobe is not the GOAT. He's my favorite player ever. He shouldn't becompared to Jordan. but..
I would take Jordan,Shaq (dominant Center) ,Kareem,Magic before him in that order

Does anyone have any articles of when Kobe "was" a bad teammate? I have some kidson my team that think they can belittle their teammates and us have success. I need to use Kobe as what not to be as a team leader. Someone point me in the right direction.

                    Because yes:

                    1. "Kobe ain't MJ." But once he gets his sixth ring, and that's most likely going to happen within the next couple of seasons, barring any unforeseen phenomena, he will arguably be better than MJ, according to a number of analysts.
                    2. "Kobe's 33 now. He's not gonna play another 7 years, much less average 20 ppg." Great players learn to adapt their game to their body's ability, not the other way around. Kobe started as a high flyer, evolved in to a high percentage shooter, and is now a consistI don't care how many warnings I get, I am still going to eat raw cookie dough.
ent post threat. As long as he has pieces around him and not some bull**** roster like the 2007-08 Lakers squad (where he actually HAD to score 81 points for them to win), Kobe will continue to average 25, 5, and 5 or more. And for someone who loves and lives for the game as much as Bryant, playing basketball and winning championships is the only goal. I don't see him giving up his life's goal at 40.

There's a reason that the "Jordan vs. Kobe" conversation even exists -- because there is reason for comparison. Bryant has all the merits and honors (aside from the single MVP trophy vs. MJ's 6 and 5 rings as opposed to Jordan's 6) to position him as a legitimate contender for the title "best of all time." Fact is, Kobe came later than Jordan. No matter what Kobe does or how much better he may play in his advanced age than Jordan did in his, "Jordan did it first." The debate is always gonna come down to personal opinion, since stats don''t really tell the whole story.

you sound like a young fella... hahahahahahahahahaha

He does everything for LA atm. He is the PG, the scorer & an awesome leader.

To say he's lost a step, doesn't have as much lateral quickness, and has lost some explosion would be true and not a knock on him. He still gets it done, just in different ways than he used to. He can't get to the rim as easily as he used to, still goes into Kobe vs. them mode too often despite the weapons he has around him, and settles for too many deep, contested two's but is an assassin in the post and if he's on, he does it as well or better than anybody in the league.

He's still in that elite tier of perimeter players, but I'm interested to see what he'll do in a non-triangle offense and what Mike Brown is going to put into place this season. We haven't seen him in a more "traditional" offense in over 10 years.
This reminds me of how people began talking about MJ back in 1997, and it's pretty much what I think too. It will be interesting to see wether there's a dominating KB after Phil Jackson...

Re: The evaluation of Kobe Bryant

I haven't been able to see any games since they played the Knicks so all I have to go on is stats. Kobe is on FIRE from deep-mid range hitting at well over 50%. If he wasn't shooting less than 20% from 3pt land he'd be having a career year in efficiency standards. Can somebody break down the Lakers offense for me so I can get a better idea of how he's putting in work? Anybody have any ideas on why he can hit the 20 footer this year but not the 3?

Against the Bulls and Knicks he was using Gasol as a high screener a lot and was using the separation to take the deep two. Is this still what they're doing? Pick and Roll? Iso? Somebody drop some knowledge and help me out.
Acts 2:38. Let the truth be told.
John 4:23. He is seeking a seeker.
John 3:20. Say no to normal.

Its alot of iso. Kobes been using a pretty varied bag of tricks to free himself up. He's been driving to the baseline alot and when he gets any open space, splashing it down. He's killing defenders with the triple threat and jab steps, and hitting some high degree of difficulty shots.

He's also been moving off ball much more than he ever did in the triangle and getting the ball in good spots, typically elbow or just off the block.

His 3 ball is pathetic and he settles too often. He's been getting dribble penetration and switching up his rhythm to keep defenders off balance.

But he's absolutely fire from mid range right now, and it still looks like the offensive execution still has a ways to go, I expect he will continue to get quality looks in the mid range as they continue to progress.

He went off last night haha. I was worried about that game against PHX because everyone knows the only reason LA beats them was Odom and he's gone now. Looks like Kobe had to take it into his own hands. I got a ton of flack for ranking Kobe in my top 3 earlier this year and he's definitely proven me right so far.
