Bad move imo. Now I'm sure they will try to attach Turk to any Dwight deal but is NJ even an option now. Can Nene play the 4?

Even Travis OutLOL thinks Thornton got overpaid.

If Nene comes to the Nets, it's not financially possible to get Duhwight and Turk and then at the end of the season, keep Deron AND Duhwight unless you release every other player on the roster.

Using that train of thought, we don't know that a new owner would care if the team was over the cap either. So the Hornets might as well spend up to the cap. See what I did there?

The bottom line is its not likely that an owner will purchase a team before the end or close to the end of the season therefore they wouldn't be obligated to pay this year's salaries....the NBA does. So a potential owner shouldn't be concerned about Odom or Dragic's contract because they will be off the books in 2012-2013.

Thanks Pack. So I guess its down to Chicago and LA for Dwight?

perhaps, but it seems prudent to air on the side of caution when it comes to a situation like this. I dont see how a team up for sale can max out their cap. I can understand why other owners would have a problem with this deal

LA would have gotten the franchise player in the deal, and also cleared 20 million in cap space...talk about a coup

Houston has a reason to be pissed though. Ive heard that Houston was planning on signing Nene and pairing him with Pau. That would have been quite a front court.

Believe me when I say the Lakers were NOT trying to clear Lamar Odom's cap for any reason. They would have much rather kept him on the books on his very reasonable, team option, contract. Still surprised he was put into this specific trade to begin with....

Do you guys think a mystery team, a la the LA Angels of Anaheim, could swoop in and grab Dwight Howard?

I'm hoping it would be the Bulls. Noah is great - and yeah, the City of Chicago (including me) loves him - but I don't know how you could argue Noah over Howard right now. He does everything Noah does, with offense included.

Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard = Lock it UP. And Adidas would have a field day, haha.

Don't know because we haven't made an offer to Nene yet. It's just being reported as that we will.

This could all be done soooo much easier if Duhwight simply opens his mouth and just tells the Magic either he wants to stay for the year or that you want to leave. Either be all in or not.

Yeah, but the benefits would've been great. Having CP3 (Who would become the future of the Lakers) with Kobe, and STILL having the money to make a run at another star next year. Think about that.

ESPN is really upset about this, Broussard saying NBA has put a bad taste in his mouth, Adande saying Laker bias.

I think that only applies to FA's. Howard whether he likes it or not is still a Magic and the Nets probably shouldn't be having backdoor meetings with him.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

The outrage from the BSPN guys is kinda funny, esp Jon Barry.

                                Chris Broussard can kick rocks!

Chris Paul & Dwight Howard going to LA just keeps his face on TV more often and that's all he gives a crap about.

Bad taste? I got his bad taste.
